Well I've been a lurker for a good long time now and you all have inspired me greatly. We moved to our current location near Jordan MN in 2010 and I finally found myself with a covered piece of decent cement which was a huge novelty for me coming from having a dirt floor hay barn. Anyway it's a 30x36x8.5 pole building that's reasonably well built with asphalt shingles and T-111 siding. The shingles are shot and will be replaced with "normal" pole-barn tin and the T-111 will be removed and re-used inside as the interior wall with the smooth side facing the interior and tin will also be applied to the exterior with a 3' wainscoting to help it blend in with the rest of the buildings. I've made pretty decent progress in the last week framing the ceiling and walls while reinforcing the rafters to support the insulation load. I don't have any actual pictures as of yet so I thought I'd post up a current and future floor plan to see what you guys have for suggestions. The main purpose of my shop is to be able to maintain our own vehicles as much as humanly possible. I've got a 16 year old daughter and a 15 year old son so we'll soon be attempting to keep at least 4 cars on the road in addition to 2 motorcycles, 2 tractors, a full stable of Stihl chainsaws, a zero turn mower, etc. It seems like a non-stop battle but I enjoy tinkering, the wife says it keeps me out of trouble, and it saves us a bunch of money. The only work I currently farm out is mounting and balancing of our tires and I'd like to bring that home if I could as well. The scale is 1 square per foot on the "drawings", done roughly in Excel.
