I guess Mobil makes oil for AC Delco. I found the part number on the AC Delco site. I wonder if it's the same as the standard Mobil 1 synthetic?

i could use the 0w-40 if it really is M1... but I don't trust ACDelco rebranding... and the 1-2 month shipping? doesn't get me excited...

The shipping window is an oddity. Introductory pricing with no supply?

I threw down for a couple of cases just to see what would happen.

I don't see where it says synthetic, this might be the traditional oil.

If it's actually "Mobil 1" then it's synthetic. But another web site has that part number coming back as "Mobil Clean." Amazon has not figured out oil yet. And, 1-2 month shipping window means you'll likely have your order canceled. You see this time and time again on sites like BobIsTheOilGuy.

Mobil 1 also makes conventional, which is what I believe this is. I do not see the term 'synthetic' on the amazon site or the delco site when referencing this part #.

If search in amazon you'll see different options for Clean 5000, Clean 7500, EP, etc. This would lead me to believe the link in the OP is synthetic.

I did some searching, and ordered a case of 10W-40HM, two cases of 0W-20AFE, and two cases of 5W-30EP. Each was under $20 for a 6 pack.
Lets see when they arrive.

I'm not sure this is true. Please elaborate.

It was pretty weak, like a deal site or soemthing, and I can't find it now. I'll retract.

I went in for three cases. Worth a shot.

Yes it's synthetic. And a great one at that, especially for an over the counter oil. It has very strong additive/anti-wear package and good Viscosity index.

Worst case we have a team on here to go back and ***** at Amazon, I know I will get my $$ refunded from credit card for false advertisement and they will just take their money back from Amazon. I will gladly return the cases at Amazon's expense if they like...

ive never seen regular oil sold in 6packs, only synthetic ive seen sold in 6 packs so makes it even more sense.

anyways the best part is it doesnt charge your credit card till it ships! plus if its wrong amazon ships it back for free... so its nothing to lose again

1. synthetic has a multi-year shelf-life.

2. "ships in 1-2 months" means they're out of stock and have ordered more. E.g., I was going to get a set of royal visa jaw pads and it showed "only 1 left - order soon - more coming". The next day, it said, "ships in 1-2 months". Today, it says, "ships in 3-4 weeks".

Unbunch them *******... :bounce:

So, i actually went to amazon and took a look. Looking only at 5W-30 since that's what the wrx and outback take.

There are 5:
21.16 = 1.76/qt :shocking: - ACDelco 19287565 Mobil 1 5W-30 ESP Formula Engine Oil - 1 Quart, (Pack of 12)
19.48 = 3.25/qt - ACDelco 19287564 Mobil 1 5W-30 EP Engine Oil - 1 Quart, (Pack of 6)
18.61 = 3.10/qt - ACDelco 19287554 Mobil 1 5W-30 Engine Oil - 1 Quart, (Pack of 6)
31.48 = 7.87/qt - ACDelco 19210933 Mobil 1 5W-30 Synthetic Engine Oil - 1 Gallon
34.65 = ????.qt - ACDelco 19287557 Mobil 1 5W-30 Engine Oil

In this format, it's easy to see the diffs between them.

According to Mobil, all "Mobil 1" is synthetic oil.
EP is "Extended Performance", comes with a gold label.
ESP is "Emission System Protection", green label (duh).

I did some googling of the part #s - included in the product description - and the only real hits were nextag and shopzilla - shopping comparison sites and the only hits they returned were essentially the same amazon pages I started from.

So, what did I do? While on Mobil's site, I checked their FAQ on shelf-life - 5 years sealed, stored cool & dry. I bought a lot of the ESP. I'll resell it if I don't use it.

It's not really taking a chance either. If it's not Mobil 1, but simply Mobil Super, you complain to Amazon and they'll almost certainly refund your money and most likely, will allow you to keep the oil. I've had a dozen claims this year and every one was decided in my favor within hours and I haven't had to return a single item - they're almost falling over themselves to thank you for finding the problem and allowing them to fix it for you. :bounce:

And if they cancel the order(s), no loss other than the time and heck, at this price, it's a better chance than a lottery ticket! :rocker:

Just ordered some of the 5w30 ESP AC Delco cases of 12. I suspect it is a typo and actually a case of 6. We'll have to wait and see.

Between this and the autozone/o'reilly $10 regular oil change (w/ filter...) from a few months ago, I'll have a lot of oil laying around. Maybe too much.

Oh, well.

What year are your Subarus? EP has the better wear package in the oil.
ESP just has reduced zinc and phosphorus. It's not actually a better oil, and is only meant for newer cars (past couple of years).

Amazon would never let it get to that. They're truly excellent when it comes to returns (I've had numerous experiences with this, and they have all been superlative). I'd suggest you relax a little. :)

'08s. I figured it was a "straighter" oil since it's "more green". Where did you find that info, I haven't bothered looking yet - waiting to see if it ever ships. I didn't think it was better, the greenie stuff usually ISN'T but at half the price....

Agreed. They shipped me 6 incorrect air filters today. Time for an email... :sad:
