I deposited my digital check this afternoon. The people working at the Chase branch I frequent had never seen one and didn't seem to know what to do with it, but they took it and it's showing as available in my account.

Yep, I had the same experience at my Chase branch here.

I submitted mine on 4/9, nothing yet. Site says rebate is processing, wait six to eight weeks.

I got my digital check a couple of days ago. It took just as long as any of the mailed checks that I received over the last several years. I think the digital check has no speed advantage over the mailed check, it just costs Mobil less to send.

I took it to my CU today and they would not honor it. The teller called over the head teller who told me that they had seen Mobil rebate digital checks from a couple other people in the last week or so and the CU is in the process of forming an official policy addressing them. When I got home tonight there was a message from the CU that they will contact me tomorrow with their decision.

Got my digital check on Wednesday. Went hunting for it in my in-basket. If I wouldn't have seen this forum thread go up to the top, I wouldn't have went looking for it.

I think going forward I am going to request a "paper" check mailed to my house. I get so much junk email, I'm worried about these digital checks getting lost in the clutter. At least if it is mailed via USPS to my home, I won't miss it in the mailbox.

BB&T wouldn't deposit mine either at the bank. I used the mobile app check deposit feature and just took pics and voila, my $24 was deposited a couple of days later.

I always thought you could even write a check on a napkin as long as the information was there.....guess not anymore....

Typically if you are printing a check, they have a special MICR ink you need to use in your printer... Maybe that is why? I know it seems stupid when like you said you can snap a pic and do a mobile deposit...

I went to Chase, and first they said they couldn't take it. Then the teller went to the Manager (and I think they called that phone number on the printout). What they finally did was cut the two check images out of the page, then taped them back-to-back to make it look like a check, then inserted them into the check scanning machine. It then scanned as a regular check would.

I did two rebates about a month apart, April and May and requested digital checks. Got the digital about a week ago and received one in the mail today. Obviously the digital checks are an issue; I won't do that again as it's no quicker. I'll cut and paste it together and try my credit union .

Submitted April 27th and received a electronic check on May 5th. I bought my oil at Walmart.
I don't think I'll do the electronic check again. When I took the check to the bank they looked it over and said no thanks. I brought the check home a deposited it with my phone. I can wait for a real check in the future.

I wouldn't say an issue with checks. The issue is with glorified cashiers aka tellers who think they have the authority to deny just because they have never see it. Ignorance has never been a viable excuse for anything. If you were to test their general knowledge of banking system they will be right up there with wallmart hoes.

Checks are taken against funds of account holder. So if they bounce, bank has no liability, its right there in your agreement/privacy/whatever. Unless its endorsed " without recourse" and even then bank has the ability to decline deposit, this time for good reason.

Point is, don't bother arguing with cashiers, ask for manager and let them figure out/learn the hard way. Or use online deposit.

There is even a phone number on the check to call if there are any questions. That's what my bank did. I don't know what was communicated, but it was probably - cut the two halves out, tape the two halves together, and run them through the check scanning machine. Done and deposited.

I deposited my 2nd digital check today at the same Chase branch where I deposited the first. This time they took it without reservation. I mentioned that there seemed to be a bit of uncertainty amongst various banks on how to handle these checks. The teller, who was the same person I dealt with the first time, said they had been instructed to treat it as a non-scannable check and to let their back office people take care of it.

Yeah I thought anything hand-written could be a "negotiable instrument."

Is anyone else waiting on their rebate still?

The website has no record of my submission. Was there a confirmation email sent when the submission was entered? If so, what's the email address that it was sent from? Thanks for any help!

Thanks guys. I don't know what happened this time round. I've claimed 6 rebates in times past, but this one didn't work for some reason. I called Apfco and they allowed me to email in my receipt. We'll see if it works out!
