I have a Dewalt 13“ Planer on a Dewalt folding work table and I’d like to get it on some kind of cart or cabinet where I can roll it out of the way when not in use. I am looking for ideas beyond the box on wheels approach, really trying to maximize my storage space, and even on a storage cart type system you lose a bit of space above the cart when against the wall.

I used to have one of these on locking wheels, planer might be too big for it though.

I built a mobile cart from two 4 drawer bottom cabinets on angle iron base with casters. On top I have the planner and mortiser seems like an efficient use of space. I like keeping the extra tooling close to each machine.

Perhaps you've considered it already but don't like it, but Dewalt does make a mobile stand for their planers. I have it, the footprint isn't much bigger than the planer itself. Both Lowes and HD have it for $157.

I did look at that, it seems like a good deal if storage isn’t a concern. If I roll this out of the way to a wall I end up with a bunch of dead space underneath and above. Thinking of building a flip top bench for it, saw some videos on YouTube and while it may cost the same it may get me back some storage. Unlike a router table, I’m not sure what purpose rolling drawers under the planer would serve for my storage needs…

If you buy a box type you just need to figure out what else to store in it. My band/disc sander is on a small 4 drawer tool box. Top drawer has bands and discs in it. One of the middle drawers has a bolt cutter that is long enough it only fits diagonally. Bottom taller drawer has a bunch of hoses and the bottom half of a gallon jug full of hose clamps.
