Mobile Monster 2x4 Workbench

The only thing cooler than a mobile workbench is a mobile workbench with a built in router table...

So after much deliberation and YouTube surfing, I finally realized that I was over complicating things.

The dewalt router plunge base has machine screw holes all over the bottom of it and I can just use those to secure it to a router plate!

For ease of recognition as to which screws are used for the plate and an added cool factor, I painted the screw heads and the counter sunk holes red.

I hammered 4 T-nuts into the MDF to keep the plate in place when raising and lowering the router.

I built a similar setup years ago. I used all thread with nuts instead of the jacks to raise and lower. It was such a hit on the job site someone stole it. Haha. Yours looks beefey. Nice job

What about a fence for the router? I am looking to build a wooden workbench in my new shed for a small carpentry shop in the backyard. I built my workbenches in the garage out of steel, the medium I am more used to. Wood is quite foreign to me, your bench is looking good.

Thanks! Metal is considerably more exact (in terms of measurement methods) than wood is, so that can be maddening to get used to.

If you just get used to making your second measurement with the actual piece you're going to cut, you should get used to it exponentially faster.

Also, the router fence is coming. Not to worry on that one!

Nice Job...
You could also take (4) 1x3.5" boards, add a simple hinge to the top and Hang them in Place on the inside of the support legs.
when the table is down, they are 1" too long, so they hang on an angle.
Once you jack the table up, they fall into place and support the table.

Or drill a hole through the legs, once up...slide a rod, dowel, or bolt through to hold the table in place.

but, again...Nice Job!
