I'm looking for ideas on an air filter/dryer system for a mobile plasma set up.

I've been looking at shop set ups all night, but can't find anything that isn't mounted to a wall.

Any ideas?

Thanks Kazlx,

I'll be doing a low-buck version.

I'm interested in seeing what others have done to keep it mobile.

I'll be taking this to job sites occasionally, and want to keep it quick and easy to transport and hook up.

What are you cutting with it? You honestly don't need all that much unless it's a CNC. Water separator, motorguard, and one of these little guys right before the machine. If moisture is starting to get through the motorguard, it will change colors. Not sure what else you are looking for. Most of the diy setups are hokey/messy and don't work all that well. If you really want to, you could just run the motorguard, they work really well. It just depends on how good your air coming in is. The more moisture in your lines, the better filtration you will want before the machine. I ran my PM30 for years on a hand torch with nothing but the super dry. It's not that big of a deal.

IMO, money is best spent on the front end of the air system, then you need very little at the machine. Look at doing an aftercooler or expansion tank type setup to drop as much moisture as possible

Thanks again, Kazlx

I was just kinda wondering if anybody had come up with anything interesting like the one pic'd.

I got a motor guard, but I'd like to use it for tools besides my plasma, so I don't want it mounted to the unit.

Just fishing for ideas.

Are you using this in the field or something? You are way better off just mounting to the compressor, or doing something right on the outlet 'post compressor' rather than 'pre-tool' if that makes sense. Then just use the minifilters either direct or with a small whip to catch the residuals.

Yes, mobile. Jobsites, tailgating. Sometimes with my compressor, sometimes I use other's compressors. I never know what kind of condition they might be in.

I'm thinking the motor guard at the compressor, then a second filter/regulator then maybe a mini at the unit.

That way I know I got good air, and correct pressure.
