I second this. I know everyone keeps tools in their trucks, cars, and vans. I personaly keep a mini tool set with me, but its around a 100pc set. Nothing real fancy since I dont have the diamond plate truck box. But lets see some pics!

I have a montezuma.... If it was strictly a service truck I'd have a service box with slide out compartments (like b&w truck beds) with 2 montezumas and a road box. The rest of the compartments would be storage for consumables. Air tools and power tools. And a generator/welder on a small trailer so it didn't take space but could easily come along when needed. A montezuma is only set of to hold sae or metric. Not both. That's why o would have 2.... I only work on farm equipment and I have a small saw set that can get me through the rare sightings.

Back twenty five odd years ago, I used to use a 10 drawer Craftsman top box to take to the race tracks, but it finally got too heavy for two strong men to move. I had to take the bottom two drawers out, move it, and then put them back in.

I got smarter and bought a two drawer intermediate, and a 6 drawer top, both Kennedy mechanics's boxes, and that allowed each part to be moved separately.

I've since stopped racing, and bought an 11 drawer bottom roller for the auto tools as it's all shop use, and re-purposed the top stack for mostly metal working tools.
So while it's not currently in the back of a truck, this is what I used then.

I once read where one of the top crew chief's (I'm talking Indy racing) back in the day, used two of the small Kennedy machinist/tech boxes (3 drawer? 7?) :dunno: as he could carry one in each hand to and from the truck to where they worked.

These days it takes a semi tractor trailer to haul the car and tools and parts...

I don't have photos, but back in the 1970's and 80's when I was travelling all over Oregon, Washington, and Alaska as an airplane pilot/A&P mechanic I kept my tools in a group of Craftsman tool boxes. I had one 3-drawer+top bin for my pliers, screwdrivers, hammers, punches, and small tools. Another held my socket wrenches. A third had files, tin snips, taps&die sets, and pop rivit tools. Two deep boxes with removable trays held specialty tools like cylinder base wrenches, timing lights, tube flaring kits, etc. I kept my adjustable, combination and double box wrenches in a roll kit sewn up by a friend with pockets big enough for multiple wrenches in each pouch. I had hundreds of pounds of tools but could carry any "bite size" box by myself.

I really like the roll kit for the wrenches. I still use it, but now it hangs in my shop so I can easily pick out the wrench I need, as well as take "inventory" to make sure they all made it back home after the last use.
