Not my idea, saw someone else mention it on Facebook… At any rate, I picked up a TEQ pro socket set a few weeks back (posted in the NTD thread) at the Advance Auto clearance, mainly for the 1/4” deep sockets, went in my shop tool box, the rest of the sockets got put into this “general tool bag” I have put together. Not really any nice tools, mainly just extra/older stuff. Figure I could grab this bag if going to help my parents hang shelves, or a friend build furniture, or just toss in the truck if going on a trip, sort of thing…

At any rate, when I got the sockets, i just tossed them in a ziplock and figured that be fine, until I saw the all thread idea. About $10 on parts and not much time.

Wouldn’t want to use them like this everyday, but for the handful of times I’ll use them from this bag, pretty happy with this solution (so far, at least).

Definitely will work but Why not use regular socket rails?
I don't know if you were replying to the OP or me. If me, the (sorta) one dimensional aspect (length) of a long bolt or socket rail is more demanding of space than a glob of sockets on a ball chain.

Socket rails provide work efficiency while a ball chain provides space efficiency.
