Can't see very well as I have a scratch on my eyeball under medication. I wrote a longer post but accidently deleted it when I hit the wrong button. The short story is I finished the plumbing and backfill in a hurry by hand as it is too soft for the tractor. No pictures below ground as I can't see well enough and had to get the dirt in the hole before the rain got heavy. I got some new old toys to post if I can get Ginny to take the pictures. Sorry if I misspelled any words as I am typing almost blind.

BB: sorry to hear about your eye injury. hope it heals ok and you are back to your old self soon.

In the past i was able to sometimes save a long post that accidentally got deleted by hitting the back button, but sometimes they are just gone and you need to rewrite them.

did you say it pours rain almost every night in the summer? so i'm guessing your humidity level is sort of like the winters here in Seattle where it seems to drizzle rain almost 24/7?

here's to a great SUNDAY!!

Bobby take care with your eye..

Sure will Steve. I gave up with the salve yesterday as the doc said once the sensitivity was down where I was comfortable that was ok. Still need the antibiotic drops through Friday. Still feels like something is in it a little but the redness some of which is irritation from the drops I believe is going away with the swelling SLOWLY.

drives the ground is so wet here that when I tried to dump a load of dirt from the bucket on my tractor the sink hole I made in the clay with the front wheel required more dirt to fill than what was in the bucket? It's like a traffic jam; you wonder where it all goes once it spreads out?

I took this picture of the crystalline flowers looking out through my living room to show the sun as it picked up the light coming through the window. The glass in the flowers made them look like they were wet with dew. Picture doesn't do justice to what was seen; unfortunately. It needs Vieux with a real camera; and a real talent! These flowers were in the movie Radio.

New plane. Building a collection of planes to use in a shop that will keep me handling things that will not tie me up for years at a time. Wish me luck!
This is a Stanley low angle model 62. It works great on the Persimmon which has a nasty grain to plane.

Jim (and all) don't know if you use a lot of long clamps but I was in Sears this weekend (they are closing the mall store here) and I noticed some nice chrome cloths racks on wheels in the ladies dept. while the wife was shopping. These racks are about 3 foot square and have four arms 90 degrees to each other to hang cloths on (very heavy duty) The asking price is$12 each. Be great for cabinet clamps especially in a small shop or garage. I bet you could put 100 of the steel ones on one. May want to check out any sears closing nearby.

This new addition to the shop is for planning chamfers.
Bobby, that's a neat plane and going by the asking prices on eBay, very valuable (getting close to the price of a Festool router). Never saw one before but now I've seen yours and watched one being used on YouTube. Perfect tool to make repeatable chamfers.

BB: i'm not sure if I own a plane like that, but I don't think so. I know I don't own a piece of persimmon wood that big cause all mine are golf club heads from 40+ years ago when that's what we played with.

any chance you can turn the plane on it's side so we can see what the bottom looks like?

have a great weekend and hope it quits raining soon!!

The plane can outshine the power plant at this time but I'm getting the hang of it now the Jim has given me a few pointers! Chickens will have a **** carpet now.

Thanks all. And drives I will get a picture of the bottom and post it. One of these days I may even take the time to figure out how to multi quote? :lol_hitti

BB: when I first joined and started posting about 5 years ago the MULTY QUOTE BUTTON just made my posts WAAAAAY too long especially if there were the huge PHOTOBUCKET PICS included. also I had my GJ settings set to 10 posts per page so scrolling through long multy quotes was a pain.

I decided to make my own style of multy quote that you might have seen on my thread and other threads i post on where I list names like this.

ANDY:

BOB:

1/2:

and so on with usually some words after the member's name too. so if you want to do Multy quotes my way and not include the member's last quote that is what I recommend cause you usually respond quick enough that a member doesn't have to wonder what you were responding to.

otherwise hit the multy quote button and try to put words in between each member's prior post/comments.

or have Andy, 1/2, or Bob or any other member help you cause they do the multy quote thing all the time so ask for more help and i'm sure we'll help you figure this out if you'd like to fix it.

have a great weekend.

BB: thanks for the picture and even though I own maybe 4 power routers I'd love to have a hand plane like that.

I hope the multy posts ideas helped cause I know the prayers from you and others have. here's my dad yesterday and I think or maybe know GOD just turned the switch back on for him. one thing is for certain is that my MOM is very happy again.

Drives GREAT NEWS. I'll be sure to pass the news along to others from my church community. I own one router but use it rarely as I find they are too much trouble to set up most of the time and the cutters are expensive. I also have a shaper which I plan to sell for the same reason.

BB: yep routers seem to have their own following. i do like how fast it is for some jobs, but i'd really like to get into hand planing and make shavings some day soon.

sorry I forgot to post a couple pics of my 85 year old dad. one is in the ICU about 3 weeks ago with the gal gluing EEG tabs to his head and the other picture I took 2 days ago when we stopped by to say hi at the rehab place he's at now.

he's happier than he's been in years and maybe this woke him up so he won't just sit in his chair and maybe use some of the exercise equipment i put in his living room so he can work out and still watch TV. Getting old AIN'T FOR SISSIES so we all have to KEEP MOVING so we don't age faster.

cheers

:thumbup:Andy we are not talking router planes?? However, if I get one I will post it.

Bobby, a slot machine? OK, I get it, you have the original GoFundMe app.

Bob I went to a car show several years ago and it was cold and rainy. It was a 3 1/2 hour ride one way so we braved the misery and looked around of 1/2 hr.(usually a day long affair) I got the slot just as two other people were walking that way. It is a 1936 Columbia nickel slot working and full of nickels when I got it. One of the other guys offered to double my money to take it off of my hands.

 Thanks Steve. Oak was cut off of my lot. Should make a nice stand if I can do it justice.

BB: I see you are already using the new method of multiple responses similar to how I do it and looks like it works and might save you some time too.

speaking of time how long have you had the old oak boards laying around? also i'm guessing you had a friend mill them since you are just setting up your mill? how do you store the wood after it's cut and is there a time when it's ok to maybe take the stickers out if you use them?

the one arm bandit should look good and maybe even provide a bit of entertainment. have you played it and hit the jackpot and had all the nickles fall out?

have a great day and here's to maybe lending you some of my almost perfect weather we've been having.

cheers

drives I had the oak milled by a friend with a portable mill about four or five years ago; maybe more. It dried with sticks about six months; would be a year up in New England. I got caught in the rain yesterday one coupler short of finishing my gutter. Hope to get a rain free morning to finish or I have to grade over again. Hope Dad is still progressing.

Beautiful oak Bobby! I love red oak, and especially home grown! :)

You guys were talking about power routers so I thought I'd put my 2 cents in when you mentioned router. Could be a router plane. And they are a pain to set up.

Andy, is this a test to assess my brain function? :headscrat I did get a router plane a few days back but am still waiting for it. I'll post it when it comes in. Only has one cutter but I will make the other two if I have to have anything more.

This is the first pad of the apron. It will support my propane tank up and out of the way so I can mow with the tractor; used to be a place for the poison ivy to grow. It is 3X6feet X4 inches, but the total will be 20 feet long. I poured it a few days ago but it is covered until Tues. Hung the gutter over the last few days. What a pain. I built the soffit out to the very edge of the drip and still that steel roof shed water so fast it missed it.
Andy you would be proud; I became and Engineer for a day, (nothing like Queen for a day), and cut and bent the last 1/4 inch of drip like little trim tabs, the valley was especially tricky, and now it will catch even the heaviest of rains. Climbed down off the ladder and put my dunce cap back on; and got out of the 100 degree heat! :headscrat :lol_hitti

Bobby that looks like a bit of hard work.

Putting trim tabs on the sheet should work fine.

Stay cool.

Steve it does work great. As they are forecasting another week of rain I believe I will give up on the concrete until after my vacation which starts soon.

Concrete work in August?!?!?!

You're a stouter man than me, BB. I am working on INSIDE projects until fall.

I know Jim it's insane but I'm trying to prepare for the water that will flood my cottage if a hurricane heads my way before I leave on vacation. My luck one will come while I'm gone. (floors are laminated wood on a slab; moisture barrier no match)
