International is back together and charging nicely. Starts and runs good. Just before I finished cutting it started surging and cut out a few times. Started up and ran good without a load in between so I'm thinking blow out the carburetor valve. It never ends.

One simultaneous job scheduled is to tackle the area under one of my overhangs. I need to free up some space in order to move my industrial thickness planer out of the shed and into an area where I can use it. It also gives me space to move the only pallet rack I have without cover inside in order to store some of the stuff cluttering up my barn. The plan is to also build a 16 foot long bench/table for a foundation for building the kayak shown earlier in the thread.

I got lost - what International?

I have an international low boy cub (Not one of the ones that are lawnmowers this is a real tractor) I came with the only tachometer anyone has ever seen for a cub. I got tired of playing with the 6v/regulator system and changed it over to 12v alternator. Best thing I could have done. Gives me a better cut than anything I have ever cut with.

Bobby,
I have enjoyed your thread and the things that you have done.

Really like the GT. One of the Fords that I would not mind having and your work looked great.

Like the wrecker that you had and your other old cars/trucks.

But I really like all the old tools that you have acquired. But it would be great if you would add video to the mix. It would be nice to see how some of these things work.

I have enjoyed all of the different projects and it is good to see the different approaches to repair something in stead of replace.

Thanks Dwight for your kind words. I agree with what you say about video except I do not own anything that will provide a means to do so. I did, however, just put a deposit on another old machine. Hope to get to the point where the time I can spend breaking down a process will out weigh the amount of things I have to do just to keep the home functioning. Glad to have you on board.

Another new addition to the machine has been purchased. An Atlas 7B metal shaper with original stand. I have no access to my pictures at this time but will post soon. Bobby

Have picked up the shaper and it is in magnificent shape. Also picked up the Walker Turner lathe. I bought an indexing head for the shaper rare and pricey but I feel that it is something that needs to be got while the chance is there. I should now be able to cut gears up to five inches in dia. No more room in the truck.

Since I'm an IH fanatic I am well aware of Cubs and Lo Boys. I just didn't know or didn't remember (yeah, right) that you had one. A lawn mower with an inline four cylinder water cooled engine is a tractor designed to mow lawns. Great little tractors, and with a tach it must be a late model. Yellow and white I assume.

Cutting gears - Woo hoo! I'll send you cast bronze gear blanks and you can finish cutting them for me:rocker::rocker:

Drives I am currently out of town so I have no access to sending pictures and the equipment is loaded on the truck under cover. I will post pictures ASAP I am as anxious to show it. The Walker Turner is disassembled but I do have the cross slide that can be used for metal, the big arm for making bowls, many attachments and an extra bed. Have the legs and boards or I can use the cabinet instead which is what I plan to do.

Andy I would have to learn how myself first and I can't wait to play with it. You did not see the IH. I told you I had more stuff in the back shed but I know there was a lot to take in and it probably didn't register. I just finished switching it over to 12V alternator a few weeks ago and it now has power to get through higher grass. I would like to have a belly grader for it if they made one. If not I will make one some day.

I've got two graders for a regular Cub. They are either front or belly mount and I would think would work with a LoBoy, maybe without much modification. You can probably find one locally as well.

Sorry I've been MIA for a few weeks.:dunno:

I'm more than willing to help you clean up that space for your planer. I'll come down and take that gas pump off your hands.:lol_hitti

Just trying to get caught up with all of you here on the GJ. That's not easy.:willy_nil

Send me a picture of the belly one

th

The blades all fit front or belly. You reverse the drawbar and put it into the front holes in the final drives to push the blade mid mount.

Well that's a fine howdy do!

If you could straighten up some she would not have to kick you, therefore would not have broken her ankle.:bounce:

Sorry to hear she got hurt, however. Bobby will tell you it's no fun. I've never broken an ankle, thought I did one time when I got my foot caught inexplicably in my mouth. but I guess it was just a strain.

Take good care of her!

This is the shaper machine. With special attachments, to be posted tomorrow, I can cut gears. Lathe will be posted when I get it assembled.

BB: that machine looks so cool it almost deserves a thread of its own. or did you start one that i missed? i like that you have the original stand (legs) for it too.

what are you going to make with it?

Probably use it to make gears that I cannot match when I find an old machine that needs to be running again. Key ways and splined shafts are another thing that would be easier to make on this machine.

I can see your shop is getting full. I'll swing by and help you clean out some stuff you really don't need.

Cool shaper! Did you get some tooling with it?

Got a bicycle built for two. It's a Western Flyer used twice and put in the barn. Built back in the late sixties or there about it only has surface rust. Complete with basket. I will probably sell it. Also got an ice cream maker Sears built back in the day; wooden bucket and cast hand crank mechanism.

I got the cutter head which is all it need as the lathe tooling works on it. However, I was able to locate the one rare item that makes it much more versatile (for a price that comes close to matching what I paid for the wood lathe) It is an indexing head made especially for the shaper. Pictures attached.

Cool! That indexing head will make a great attachment for your mill, too:thumbup:

So all you need to make gears is get an accurate grind on the tool profile. Not a big job especially if you file out a sheet metal pattern to match the tool too. I always get confused with gear pitch, by the way and have to relearn every time I cut a gear.

If my wife could ride a bicycle I would deal you out of your bike-4-2. Swap for a blade would work. But she can't.

I'm amazed and jealous at the tools you find.:thumbup:
