This old tool box was my grandpa's and when he died I decided to fix it up and restore it. Does anybody know the model number so I can do some research and find some more information on it? I looked all over the box and there isnt one there. I have searched the web and it seems most of the experts on old tools and such are on this forum. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Also before anyone says it I will most likely be going back to the gray paint instead of the safety blue and replacing the nameplate with a painted version. Thanks for the help.

This is from the 77/78 catalog. I'm thinking yours may be the "compact" box that's not pictured? Jog the measurements of your box against this compact box description. All the other carry boxes on this catalog page wear the same badging as yours.

Regardless, kudos to you for fixing up your Grandpa's box. It always tugs at my heartstrings a bit to be buying a box or tool from somebody and they tell me it was their Dad's or Grandpa's.

EDIT: Corrected to 77/78 catalog. Multiple windows are making me cross-eyed.

Thank you for all of the info! The dimensions you listed match up perfectly. The only difference is mine doesnt have a tray and the socket divider is part of the base of the box. Is it possible this could just be a one off or something made for a limited time and not really advertised? Thanks again for the help!! This forum is incredible.

Your box is just the economy model and not a special one off. Sears advertised these but of course wanted you to buy the mid and high end rigs instead. The ad posted above is a perfect example of what I'm talking about.

The true value of your box is measured in memories, which if you ask me, are priceless.

I have no intention of ever selling this box. My plan is to keep it in the family and pass it down. Economy or not you are absolutely correct in that the value is in the memories. Grandpa was a tinkerer and always loved his tools and created and fixed amazing things with them. Thank you all for your help.
