Well, they're here:

Tried out the fit on a random JIS screw and I can actually lift the driver by lifting the screw. These look great. Thanks, guys, for the recommendation. Looking forward to putting some use on them.

Try them out on a standard Philips, and report back.

Enjoy some good screwing. 🔩

There are a lot of pro grade screwdrivers that are great, but very expensive: PB Swiss, Snap On, Matco, Wiha lines, .... But Vessel makes very good screwdrivers relative to the cost. I would consider buying them.

I own all of the lines you have mentioned except Matco, but I own Witte, who I believe is the OEM.

Without question the Vessels over the best performance to cost/value ratio.

Especially with the depressed Japanese Yen to US dollar exchange that is advantageous for you American buyers paying in Dollars.

Good point on the Japanese Yen being so depressed making Japanese products cheaper.

My wife is Japanese and our sons (fluent) go to school there during our USA summer break. I am amazed how cheap things have become there with the exchange rate.

There is also another "secret." Japanese culture can be extreme by our standards. They value high quality more than our USA citizens in general. So products in the Japanese market are very highly select. They will gladly sacrifice profit to make things better -- which is unthinkable for many USA-based companies. Right after WWII they were nearly destroyed so there was a lull in quality. But when they recovered by the 70s era and beyond, the emphasis on quality is much higher than in the USA. That may be decaying a bit with globalization (they are not immune) but it is still a few steps better that way than in the USA by my observations.

So it does not surprise me that better Japanese tool brands are very good. Now is also a great time to buy them.

W. Edwards Deming helped the Japanese with that.

I think their QC standards are equal to, if not surpassing that of the Swiss.

Both are superior to the EU members, I think.

I needed a #3 Philips a couple of hours ago and grabbed one of the made in USA Milwaukee's that I got months ago, but never tried. It worked great. It's not magnetic, but it could hold a #3 philips upside down with no problem. It's definitely an improvement over the import Milwaukee.
