Moderator, something I do wrong??

Last evening I threw up a thread titled “ Any bankers here, possible elder abuse “ or something like that. Had quite a few replies and this evening posted a update on my findings that I muddled through today. Then ****....entire thread is gone. Can’t even find it by checking “threads started by myself “. Something I do wrong here, nothing objectionable that I can figure out.

But I’ll agree it seems to be the same guys that go out of their way to **** on a thread too.

I've thought that the moderators on here do a good and well balanced job. But, then again, I don't believe that the board should be a free for all bully hang out. I'd much prefer it to be a bit more of a well reasoned, respectful communication tool. For the most part, it is. When it strays, the moderators usually step in. I've seen most of the argumentative bullies banned out in the 4 years or so I've been on. Only two that I've seen are still here, and one of those has only been on for a few weeks.

First let me say that this your forum and I don't give a damn how you decide to run it or what you allow to be posted or not posted, however...

I will also say there is some over sensitivity. Posts and threads seem to dissapear for seemingly no reason or at least reasons unknown to anyone but the person responsible for their deletion.

I despise censorship. I despise people who don't allow the exchange of ideas or views even when I may disagree with those ideas or views. Maybe it's always been this way, but society as a whole has lost their tolerance of opposing views. Not only seeking to silence those they disagree with, but will be downright hostile and attack (verbally or otherwise) those who disagree. Discussions land in the sewer so fast these days.

Just my .02 cents... 50/50 chance this too spirals out of control and gets deleted. Or maybe just my post will.

I can see it has been removed. I can also see it went off topic and broke the rules. Touchy topic I have to say and not really a topic suitable to this forum.

Again we do not see everything and if you feel something is not suitable or out of place report the issue with the report button.

and yes the internet does bring out many that want to argue.

I appreciate you throwing me under the bus, Dave. Particularly when you’re one of the worst on this board at making personal attacks. But I’ve never complained to the mods about anyone on this forum—with the single exception of someone quote-tagging my name with posts I never wrote.

In regard to the removed thread, another member compared the men on this board to “women at a hair salon”. But I’m not going to throw his name under the bus when he hasn’t posted here. And I don’t hold grudges—unlike some people, obviously.

I make it a point to not argue back with JM. I also make it a point to not personally attack anyone on the board. But, I'll put this out here publicly. If anyone sees a post by me that appears to be a personal attack, pm me or call it out in the thread, and I'll remove and/or apologize and modify the post. I have no need or intent to attack anyone, nor a compulsive desire to win an internet argument.

I'd also appreciate that input from any moderator, if my posts are in any way out of line.

I know we can take a thread off of its rails but that was one that I figured would be pretty immune to taking a wrong turn.
