I’ve been on the road a lot this summer and as such, have let a lot of spam get by for longer than it usually does. Typically, I get it within minutes... but I’ve sucked recently. Sorry fellas. Almost done with these damn road trips.

Is there a way that if enough people report a thread, it gets put into a holding pattern or something? I feel like there wouldn't be enough abuse that just any thread would get locked out, but there are enough of us out here that we could do some temporary "mod work" of sorts. Ultimately it would be up to a mod or admin to deal with the spammer or crazy lunatic ranter, but having a temporary hold on posting would stop these guys pretty quick and would not really hurt a regular member to bad if someone was reported vindictively. I am sure you can see who reported as well, maybe I am wrong?

Yes... With Xenforo... but not with bulletin unfortunately. That's another reason I'm working on the redesign.

At this point why do I care? As far as I know it doesn't harm me or my computer, does it hurt the forum? Is it malware?

Consider what you would loose if garage journal went down for an extended period of time. Hopefully this helps you understand why you should care...

Some times Steve (1/2 Cup) and I can delete and ban a spammer before the posts get reported. Sadly we are not that good. I should also point out much of the Asian Spam pots do not originate from China. They come from Korea, Indonesia, Vietnam and India. These places are almost in our Aussie time zones.

To all who do use that report button thank you as you are helping keep the GJ as it should be for those who respect what it is for.
