I usually fall for the old stuff. You know - wood plank floors, real vintage signage on the walls, patina, etc... Still, I can't help but appreciate the clean a...

To read the rest of this blog entry from The Jockey Journal, click here.

A little time will provide that weathered look that you go for Ryan. This is a really good twist on "out of the box design" The doors and the large over-hang are what make this garage unique. Well, that and the fact that most people would be lucky enough to have a 2.5 car garage let alone a spare FOUR+ car garage! Anyways, I am seeing a bit of 50's American Architecture in the line of this one. I think it is the windows as well as the oversized width being used that makes me think that. We should all be so lucky huh?

Yep, I agree with the windows giving that mid century modern look to the building (the whole blurring of the inside/outside space). But the roof line, overhang and doors give the colonial style barn feel to is also. It's a very nice show-place garage, that's for sure.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I spent the rainy weekend finishing the doors, so I'm getting closer. I'll probably install the track lighting next while I wait for the concrete guy to get around to finishing my slab. I'll try to get some pics together, but I seem to have an awfull time just logging on, let alone posting.

It looks great but if I may be the devels advocate for a second and say all of that glass will make window shoping for a thief easy..............unless you have a security fence around your entire yard.

I think you left a similar comment over in the Gallery thread. You may have missed my response:

Well, security was a consideration. The barns gets its own zone of our existing security system for fire and intrusion. As for the windows, our house has windows like those all over the place. The bottom line is that we live deep in the woods in a spot that's hard to find. Even with explicit directions we usually have to "talk" delivery people and guests in to our place via cell phone. It's not visible from any road. There is an 8 foot chain link fence aroung the entire property (to keep the deer out) which should be a deterrent. I guess some lowlife could climb the fence and do a smash & grab for whatever he could carry out through 400 feet of heavy woods, but I would have his image on digital video both coming and going. Then too, I'll be sleeping in the barn from time to time, so he might get to meet me and my "Louisville Slugger"!!

Very unique and tasteful design. I think this convinced me to go with the carriage door design. I was going to entertain pocket doors and store in between but your doors have such appeal. BTW what lies under the cover in front of the color mural on the west wall? American made?
