[mocsman]

Been lurking around GJ for the past couple of months, learning from the experiences of others and leveraging great choices made by our friends. My garage makeover is almost complete and hope this shows how someone who is far from being handy and the opposite of a DIYer can make something quite nice. Appreciate the feedback and open to storage suggestions. Also plan to hang my road bikes on the wall but still researching the most aesthetic way to do it.

Thanks. Was a good bonding experience with the kids and they did have a lot of fun. I mounted my road bikes and added a few basketball jersey which I collect. Waiting for my cabinets to arrive...

Update: Resin cabinets from Amazon arrived the the other day but unfortunately one was damaged. Called the manufacturer and they’re sending me a replacement. These are not heavy duty cabinets as I don’t intend to store heavy stuff, just car cleaning/detailing products and mostly shoes. For the price I think these are great. Here is what it looks like now; also waiting for a decent sale on a small tool chest for the few that I have.

Ha! That R8 was from the ToysRus clearance sale... was a great buy, kids love it! Yes there is access above where the lights are so was relatively easy to install. I have 2 of the Jordan “Wings” posters that I had framed at Michael’s, can’t wait for them to arrive next week. I’ll post pics once they are up.

That’s my plan, in a few years maybe. Saving up for a nice weekend car. I have a honda minivan that parks in the middle spot for now, hoping that R8 grows up to be a real one so I have a reason to get a 4-post lift!

Added a wall mounted cargo box courtesy of REI’s Labor Day sale. Learned the hard way that an 8-day trip to Outer Banks in NC with 2 kids, scooters, inflatable unicorns, boogie boards and beach equipment, a mid-sized SUV’s cabin is terribly overmatched. Storage using hooks and a metal pole courtesy of Lowe’s, a little less than $12 in total. Let me know what you think.

glad I checked in... I didn't know those racks existed and was thinking I needed a shelf for ours soon when I get working on it.

It’s not a Thule rack, just made it up. Couple of hooks and a metal bar. You have to use hooks that give you a bit of clearance from the wall so you would have room for the cargo box clamps. The ones I got are rated 30 lbs each so enought to hold the ~30 lb box.

Trey T the XC90 is a great value overall! Athough, the suspension is not the best; maybe we’ll upgrade to the model with the air suspension if my wife wants to stick with it after the lease ends. It’s hard to find a better option with 7 seats.
