This fall I purchased a set of 3/8", 7/16", 1/2" and 9/16" International Harvester 3/8" drive swivel sockets. Since they didn't come with a box or case, I decided to make the most of a cold, South Dakota evening and make a box for them. An Altoids tin, some red paint, a chunk of foam, and a label I made on the computer were all that I needed to complete the project. Sorry for the low quality photos. Just wanted to share my project. :)

What is the stuffing material made out of?

Adam

The foam was in a shipping box for a Pitney Bowes Weighing Module (whatever the heck that is). I stole the box from work. I would guess that different electronics, scales, lab equipment etc. might come shipped in this. Its dense but pliable and soft. I cut it out with an Exacto knife.

Man, Thant looks better than IH would've made it look! :pimpflash Sweet idea, I pick up most of the empty small tool boxes I find for this same reason but mine don't end up looking half that cool!! Nice Job!!:thumbup:

That is so cool and looks great.

I bought those same IH universals at an auction and sold them to a collector that week. He will buy any IH tool I find as long as I don't **** him. He was cool with $5 per tool. Don't know if I was low or high, but we both were happy,

Brilliant, nice paint job, I can see a reflection. I'll be keeping an eye out for those small tins. I wonder if they still sell Sucrets in those metal tins.

How did you make the sticker? I think that is the best part.

Thanks CouchSpring. The label in the lid was made using the basic Windows 7 Paint program. The IH logo was a "copy and paste" deal and the graphics are just simple shapes from the Paint Program. Its printed onto regular printer paper. I cut it out a hair larger than the lid so it "wedges" into the lid without glue.

Yes. I have two empties in the drawer. After seeing this thread, I think I'm going to make a couple of 1/4" drive socket cases. Nice work, Scout Driver!
