I have a Snap on KRSC31 and was getting frustrated with closing the lid to get it under cars and what not and decieded to modify it so the lid would lay flat against the back. Original design was going to be a piano style hinge, but I was unable to find the size that I needed with out spending a small fortune, so I went with 5" strap hinges with some modifications. Hopefully the rollcart gods don't strike me down for what I have done.

that is pretty sweet...are you gonna paint the hinges or not?

also if you were to just eliminate the gas struts would it of accomplished the same thing or would the lid of hit the back of the box ?

Paint the hindges.
Removing the struts or folding arms wouldn't alow the existing piano hindge to drop the lid to the back of the box?
Silly question, had to ask though.

EDIT: sorry Case I was composing while you were posting I guess

The hand in the 2nd picture is creeping me out. There is green reflection on the skin.

Nice idea, but on a $800 SO cart? That's what HF is for. You got stones man.

I disagree, I'm in the same boat as the OP as far as wanting a lid that folds all the way over, but I'd also like something with SO quality.

also @ the OP, nice work! That's exactly what i want! Same color and everything.

I do plan on getting some paint to match the cart for the hinges, Thought about just removing the struts, but it would hit the back of the cart.

I bent the hinges using a jig I bought from grizzly, can't remember the name, sits in a bench vise, one is shaped like a v the other has a sharp edge, - >

As for the price, I got it with a student discount, half price didn't feel to bad about it. And it is just a tool.:beer:

Pretty dope! I'm trying to figure out how to the opposite: keep the lid up. Mine is a Napa cart tho. For the time being I just use a metal rod to keep the lid up and when i need to move it around or keep some big items on it, I remove the rod and fold the lid back.
