When I worked maintenance for Briggs and Stratton,I milled down a deep 3/4" dr. socket for a gland nut on a huge Parker hyd. cylinder. Didn't really want to cut it,but I knew they would replace it,which they did. Later on while wrenching for a construction company in Tenn.,I had to have a cut off 1 7/16" socket (or metric eqiv) to change a transmission line in a D65 Komatsu dozer(so help me there wasn't anything easy to fix on those turds). I refused to cut off one of my Snap Ons though because the company owner was a ***** and a crook and I knew it wouldn't be replaced. I had one of his Chinese wrenches in my hand before anything got cut. I gave back his little stub back after I was done,I was afraid the stupid hillbilly would make me replace his wrench otherwise. Normally I wouldn't hesitate to do whatever it takes to get the job done, but he cost me quite a bit of money while working for him,and I wasn't about to cut him any slack. Glad to be done with the inbred son a gun!:)

Anybody have any pics of their attempts to twist or halve together any X-Beam type wrenches?

How about producing a ratcheting open end wrench by cutting & grinding?

Need to get pics but a friend of mine has an old Bonney ring spanner that has been reshaped to do a specific job on the landing gear of the ww2 Lancaster bomber, (belonged to his grandfather iirc) or so the story goes

Not particularly useful these days, but a nice conversation piece,

One i modified/made was a custom low profile hex ratchet out of a 10mm ratchet spanner and a 7mm hex bit to undo the 7mm hex bolt that holds on the rear calipers on Volvo xc90's and a few other vehicles, (going to be making a new better one as it worked out well despite using the cheapest ratchet spanner i could find...)
