If one of the edit options was for modify the thread title that you created than in the classifieds you could add SOLD at the start if your stuff was sold so people wouldn't have to open the thread and waste their time so to speak.

Re: Comments about "Modify Thread title" by Shopnut

Sharing a few observations I have made on the edit topic...

Title Editing
* A Title line becomes available to edit by using the Go Advanced option at the bottom of the editing page as 930dreamer stated. But my past experience shows that it only affects the specific reply that you are editing and not the main title that shows up in the main forum listing of threads. (There is one exception which is immediately below.) Evidence of this can be seen in the first post my ASYLUM thread where I tried to change the main name (so people didn't think I will be forever 40 years old :)). Note that in the forum listing, the title shows up as "The ASYLUM - Happy 40th Birthday to Me!", while at the top of Reply #1, the title is "The ASYLUM - Turning a Crazy Vision into a Lakefront Gearhead Getaway: Year 6"

* Exception - You have about 1 minute (maybe 2) after submitting a new thread to change the Title that appears in the main forum listing page and the one that will be the default title for all subsequent replies in a thread. After that it seems to be locked in permanantly until a moderator is asked to change it. (930dreamer, if I have a setting wrong or something, I would be eternally grateful if you could clue me in on what I'm doing wrong :))

* You can make any/every reply title to be something different within a given thread if you choose to do so. Use the Go Advanced option when replying to any thread. I did this on my reply here.

General Editing
* Similar to the second point above, you have about 1 minute to edit anything in a reply without having a "Last editted by..." note appearing at the bottom of the reply. I guess this gives you a short chance to read your reply and quickly fix it before looking like a loser :). I edited this one to show you the little note down there. I'm still not sure what text (edited or unedited) gets sent in the email to the subscribers of a given thread, however, if a change like this is made.

Please speak up if you have noticed anything different. I have been a member for quite some time and perhaps I goofed up some of my settings along the way :dunno:

I have played with changing titles and Shopnut is correct, cannot do it, except for your post. Not sure if that is something Ryan can change, but I can see problems with everyone being able to change the title, even the OP in some situations.

Any Administrator and possibly Moderators (depending on how the site has it's permissions set) can change the title for you. Just drop one a PM.
