It can be done. I am not telling you how to. Just showing what I did. Now to clean up the electrical and insulation. Then on to metal liner panel ceiling and plywood walls.

I based my design off these guys:

My metal building colapsed because of excessive snow. The insurance company engineer came out and looked to see if I modified the trusses in any way or had a chain hoist setup. Just saying what they look at.

I reviewed that youtube as well and I almost did that for 1 bay but the Amish talked me into doing an LVL across the whole garage and it worked out better for me. Agree with Stingry way beyond my skill level!

Wanted to post an update here. Just got done getting all the insulation back up and insulated the sides of the trusses. Used 2in foam board doubled up for 4” total = R20. I have R30 batts in the ceiling. Plan is to finish the ceiling in metal liner panel eventually. In addition to insulation and finishing the walls in plywood. Second picture is before I finished up the insulation, but shows a car high enough for me to walk under it fully upright with room to spare.

When I analyze something like this, I usually find that there is 1000's of pounds required from the bolted connections, and only hundreds of pounds of capacity available. It is very hard to design a truss without the truss plates. Lots wrong in that video.
