Looks good

Why did you use a 4" vent kit? Just wondering

What size gas line did you use? 1/2" or 3/4"?

Where is the wiring for the electrical supply?

Looks great! Where are you located? I know my 24x34 uses much more than 45k btu
Wisconsin. My garage is 24x24 attached. I could of got away with the 30,000 but I have an addition that is not insulated that I can open up someday and insulate and heat. That is the reason for the 45,000btu. Planning for the future.

The HVAC guys installed it. The gas line is the same size as whatever comes into the house. They routed it from the service room to the garage through the attic.

D45 I can see that the gas line is 3/4" to the elbow where it goes horizontal towards the back of the heater. There's a bushing in the outlet of the elbow that steps it down to 1/2" from that point on.

It's all wired now. I will get some close ups of the gas line and stuff when I get home.

OH! So you are using it with an outlet plug on the end......this is great to know it can be done!!!

Does this outlet have its own circuit or is it tied into other outlets on the same circuit?

Notice the single outlet (vs a duplex outlet) where it's plugged in. This is still a dedicated circuit and I'll hazard a guess that there must be a shut off switch somewhere.

That coiled up wire you saw must have been in a mid-installation picture. It's excess thermostat wire. You can see the white ceiling through the cutout for the gas line, meaning the side cover wasn't installed when the picture was taken.

Sorry can't help more guys. Figured someone would be able to figure it out with closer pictures. I am not an electrician or HVAC guy or will ever claim to be. I can install ceiling fans and that's about the extent of it:)

Thanks........still good to know that someone else uses an outlet to power their heater

Will make install for mine much easier. I called around today and 3 out of 4 local HVAC shops said they use outlets, if so desired by the homeowner

I was told outlets are best in the event the unit needs to be worked on can just simply be unplugged.

I'm still trying to find an HVAC installer who will run my gas line. When I had my detached garage built, I had gas run to it, but it is capped at the outside of the building. HVAC installer says that a plumber must run the gas line through the wall and up to the ceiling. Quote for that was almost $800

I am tempted to try and run that myself. At that point, it is just running a vent out the side wall for the heater and hanging it up, which I could probably do myself. However, to maintain the warranty, I think that it requires a professional installation.
