Modine HC-63

Hey guys. Was hoping to hear some feedback regarding a Modine HC-63. I will be buying it in the next few weeks and adding an extra zone to my boiler to keep my garage a little warmer. I'm located in northern Nj. Garage is about 750 sq feet with an 2/3rds 10 foot ceiling and 1/3rd 13foot. It's insulated and finished with 2 insulated doors. One single and one double door. I'm hoping to keep it around 60 degrees when I'm working in there so I don't see it being a problem.

Anyone have any experience with these units?

So far this is the best deal I've found.
Any ideas would he great.

Not sure how much interest there is for these units but wanted to let everyone know how my install was. Got the unit for myself for Christmas and took a few days to get it all set up. I hung it from the ceiling in the far corner of the garage using angle iron straddling 2 beams. The house was done using Wirsbro hePex and I wanted to go with the same to keep the install looking uniform. It's plumbed with 3/4 copper tubing off the boiler and over about 5 feet then pex the remaining 70 or so feet. Did the sweating in one day and ran and plumbed the pex the following week. I bought the milwaukee tool to expand the collars and the installation was much easier than I thought. I had to make a small cut in the wall and go through the floor and a beam at weird angle so going copper the hole way would have been tricky. I used a honeywell low temp garage thermostat and a Johnson controls pipe mounted thermostatic switch to control the fan. We haven't had much cold weather yet, but with the coldest we've had so far it heated up the garage quickly. Just having warm air circulating really breaks the chill. The unit isn't very loud and blows air across the 30 foot plus distance. This weekend should be colder to finally test it out. So far I'm very happy with it. I'll post more results and heating times if anyone is interested. Same with pics if anyone wants to see.

I really would love to know how this is working out for you in these colder temperatures this weekend.

Looks like a nice solution for those of us with an existing boiler or radiant heat

What temperature are you running the boiler at, steam? at what pressure?

I noticed Modine is marketing a HOT DAWG H2O but this appears to overlap its performance and has a much better price point.

My application would be to run it off my radiant hot water tank but I am in Western, NY so we may get a bit colder than you.

Bump an old thread, but how is this working out for you?
Are you using water or steam?

It's been working great!! I've really put it to use this winter with my projects. I'm running on hot water. I'll get some water temperature numbers tonight.
It really warms up fast. For those looking for quiet operation I'd suggest a speed controller for the fan.

I haven't payed attention to the exact heating times, but I'd say it heats the garage from 40-60 in about 3 hours.

Hitting this again. I'm still looking at the HC-63.
If you were to do it again, would you step up to the larger HC-86? It appears to be the same physical dimensions with a larger fan. I'm thinking faster recovery times.
