modine heater - won't heat?! help

I have a Modine PB75AB ceiling heater that I know works, but I can't get it to start heating... the fan runs very very well, but the pilot light is out and it won't start automatically like the instructions say.

Can I manually light this thing? I have been unable to find directions/manuals online for this heater.

Gullreefer does it have a spark ignition system in it or does it have a nitride hot surface ignitor . Also just for chitts and giggles did you make sure the gas valve on the unit is on and did you purge the gas line .

Hey Rick, Yes the gas valve is open But I don't know what you mean by "purge gas line"?

I believe it has a spark ignition system... there's a grey knob with 3 positions (off, pilot and on) with a red push-button adjacent.

I remember my dad's really old heating system in our house when I was a kid needed a match on the pilot to start it, but I'm afraid I might blow up the house.

Gullf=reefer if it has a 3 position valve then chances are it isnt auto lighting find the pilot assembly on the heater and grab a lighter ( I prefer to use my torch ) turn the gas valve to pilot and light the torch and hold it near the pilot on the heater and push down the red button . once it is lit hold down the red button for 1 minute at least then release it and turn the gas valve to on ( get your hands and such out of the way torch included ) before you turn the valve to on and it should light right up. You could also take a picture of the pilot area if you like and I would be able to tell you from the picture if it is an auto pilot.

Gull I've been lighting furnaces and waterheaters that way for years nice little propane/mappgas torch helps preheat the thermocouple . Let me know if it worked if not we will go to the next trick .
