All the manufacturers build fixtures for the box stores at a price point that the store specifies and it is of a much lesser quality than what you get from a commercial plumbing supply house.

Go to a supply house to get a fixture than can be serviced down the road.

When looking for a Delta faucet for my bathroom, looking at Delta's website they had models listed as exclusive to Home Depot, Lowe's, & Menard's, would expect Moen to be the same.

I have Moen Customer Service telephone number stored in my Cell Phone.
Same here, just ordered 2 vanity faucets, shower head and controls and wall mount tub filler with diverter valve and hand sprayer for free standing tub. Remodeling master bath. Ordered from Moen with 15% discount and Amazon. Everything in brushed Nickel right at $2,500 I always buy Moen buy once cry once. I looked at Ferguson but it is just overwhelming the amount of brands and fixtures they have on the display.

Got a simple single handle Moen bath faucet from HD and it is a piece of ****. Where can I buy the commercial stuff with the replacement cartridge, standard 3/4" aerator, etc. This is in a high use bath and I need a something that will last. Also, really digging that new brushed aluminum finish. Any suggestions?
You can order from their website or just choose the model you wanted and call Them up for the commercial version.

The Delta ones at big box store are horrible like that. To make things worse delta discontinued on parts that is prone to fail (o-rings) try that for pos brand.

Rmack898 beat me to it.......This is not a fallacy but a fact......Years ago, I had a good friend, who was working in the field, school me.....We went to the box store and picked up a Moen sink fixture off the shelf, then went and purchased the same item at the plumbing supply house. He then laid out all of the parts side by side on his workbench....While the fixture appears to be the same, the internal parts are not always the same. Plastic vs brass, plastic vs a different quality plastic, etc and so forth.........
Were the faucets the same part number and model number? Why wouldn't Moen get sued if they sold the same model and part number, but with different faucets in the box? How would they keep track of replacement parts if they sold the same model and part number with different internal parts?

If you buy a Moen shower faucet through a plumbing supply house you generally buy the valve body separate from the trim. Moen shower faucets sold at big box stores are typically in retail packages with both valve body and trim in one package. The Moen shower valve body a plumber installed looks exactly identical to the Moen shower valve body that I bought from a big box store and take the same cartridge. If they are really the same, or not, I don't know.

I buy faucets from big box stores mostly because plumbing supply houses typically won't sell to the general public. I've called some plumbing supply houses who told me no, and have actually walked into one or two and they would not sell to me. There is one that sells to the public, but they have maybe a dozen faucets on display.

Part number was slightly off, but the same item, one had a 1 or 2 while the other had a 3 or 4, superceded with a dash and the different number if memory serves me correctly......

I buy quality moen parts from build.com
I’ll occasionally buy something there if I’m not planning a trip to “town” soon, they are owned by Ferguson. If you have a sizable order and call build.com you may find their prices negotiable, especially if you have a relationship with Ferguson.

That's like saying a F-150 and a F-250 are the same, there's only 1 number that's different...............

I realize what I wrote was a bit generic in nature, but it has been 8 years, but the prefix was different to differentiate between wholesale and retail part numbers as it was explained to me. Kind of like

102019.1
102019.2

Nor a superseded number, but a version number if that makes better sense.

Laying the parts out, the exterior unit was identical, the internals were not, can't say it any blunter than that.

Hope this helps to make it a little easier to understand.

I use Moen Faucets in my rentals and I shop for them at either the Orange or Blue store; they work fine, last a long time and install easily.

I'm in the same boat.
I do stay away from their fancy versions. I use the basic faucets and try to stick with the same cartridge. I think that is a habit started when I kept fixing off brand junkers. I have had good luck with the basic Orange/Blue store basic Moen fixtures.
I do have a place that falls into the exception. The tub/shower valves were all basic six inch spread Gerber bodies. Those buggers are super simple and durable. Parts are a little harder to find so I always have a spare set on the shelf. It's still easier than changing out the valve bodies, so they have remained. The Moen sink faucets seem to have similar lifespan in those units.

I started going for the higher tier Moen with solid brass. Going right for the best stuff usually saves replacing the lower tier faucets multiple times. IE the shower faucet that was put in failed, as did the second one. I couldn't of expected more when I took it apart and realized main internal parts were made of genuine plastic. And not even good quality somewhat reliable plastic, but no quality **** plastic.

When I install a new faucet my tenant seems to be impressed, much more so than if I just replace a cartridge.

My accountant has told me that I am doing things right by keeping my tenants happy and maintaining a positive cash flow. Many of my tenants stay with me until they are transferred away from the local area.

I got tired of replacing carpy faucets. Bought a Chicago faucet from a commercial place in 1995. I’ve serviced once since. Rebuilt the cartridge. It’s like new.
