There are a few pics currently posted on my website if any are interested in seeing a ground up restore of a fairly rare car (as well as other restores and hotrods)...

Dave, Thanks for the welcome,....

The Flathead is for a 31 Blown AV8 roadster project. Im working hard to 'earn' a rumbleseat body that should be here in June or July. (can't afford the $$$ to purchase outright) The Chassis was 'supplied' in exchange for a body job I did on a very rusty 57 chubby convertable...

So far, I have put about 1200 hours into others cars in order that I may work my way toward a blown roadster... Another 400 hours and a brookville all steel roadster body should appear... All in all it will have taken about three years to get the major (new) components I need for my build.. Once the body gets here, All thats left is some tuck 'n roll, a steering column (limeworks stainless steel early Ford style) and a wiring harness as Ive already got just about everything else in exchange for body work...

The late nights are getting long in the tooth though...

Moe -- this is my favorite shot --
Looks very 40's-ish with the setting, the vehicle and the lighting:

This Pic Is

A very recent pic of the engine compartment.....

Well, really.,,

it's actuallly the engine compartment "to be"

((as the actual body is out for paint and body work ))

((((((And the paint and body work is takeing a long time and

This is making for a very lonely spot in my garage)))))))......

So, I just have to 'pretend' that the radiator will fit so Very, Very very nicely

- at least for Now ..

In hopes the paint job comes home soon...

Thanks for the trip into the passed, your old history pictures had my heart beating out of my chest.I get excited looking at new projects,on going projects, and most of all old junk yards(rusted cars are cool).Really cool pictures of ford plant, wouldn't be nice to travel back in time to buy some of that vintage steel for pennies.I have my favorites(chevys) but I would take one of each model car built before 1971(meaning every car from teens up to 1970).I have big block and small block motors sitting around in my garage, like your flat head motor pictures in your garage. Thanks Dave

Dave, I agree %100 with you on the "variety is the spice of life" View Point.....

I tend to look at a car/truck as the owners hard earned 'sculpture'....

I wish more people could just forget about their totally "Ill-conceived and quite biased view point of the present day"
Ford vs Dodge vs Chevy situation ...

Personnelly, I like Studebakers and my buddy's got an Essex (mopar 360 powered) rumbleseat coupe...

He refers to my truck as a "Stupidbaker" and I refer to his Essex as an "Assache", all in fun ...

.
As Far as the old pics on the website goes, Their are currently about 1500 Black and white/historical pics amongst the 38 Different picture albums ( +/- 2500 pics total) that are featured in moes garage....

(((((my actual garage is more like a barn, but I guess you make due with what you are givin))) -I just wish I was 'given' some additional heaters, Brrrr, -24 tonight)))))

Anyway, To Dave and to all other web surfers and hotrodders,
I have to say, I sure enjoy the many 'visits' to my "Virtual" Garage and Sincerely appreciate the Kind words and Written Support...

Btw, If you have any buddies that like that sort of thing,

Please, And By All Means, Feel Free to Copy/paste and post a link to moes garage in your emails and on your favourite forums around the globe etc.,

As the more Regular Visitors I have, the more inclined I am to add pictures/improvements/stories etc.etc..((as time permits))...

I'm just going to chime in a word of thanks for your site...I've spent a lot of time looking at your albums, and definitely enjoy seeing the time capsules of the past...and drooled over much of that iron which was once so widely available and now eludes me like the proverbial pot of gold...

OMG, what a site. I just spent a full hour looking at all the albums on your site. Thank you for posting. The garage was great, but the old pictures of the Ford plant and street scenes were awesome as well. It is too bad that we have allowed these beautiful buildings to be destroyed for progress??

Mickey, Thanks for the compliments mate,

I Love photography almost as much as I love custom fabricated/formed T-356 Aluminum..((is that possible??). ..? And just what actually is T-356 aluminum and whats it good for?? no seriously ??

???I'm not sure if any of this collection (from the scrap bin) contains any T-256 Aluminum ?? or what..

..But I scrounged some of the "shiny-er " scrap metal from the trash heap and built this last night (dec 14th) during my 7:00 o'clock coffee break (or about in a 1/2 hour)

The thing turned out to be about 22 inches tall ! and is made entirely of scrap metal...

....Several Cat V12 Engine Valves make up the "V" and some pulleys from industrial blowers make the "8". The brass base is made from 3 different size bearings from various blowers (screw compressors actually). The brass rings are ball bearing retainers...

Or about 4 miles North of Balzac :)

'HotRod' visiters are always welcome..
....so what part of the Edmonton area are you from????
just wondering...

Thanks for the invite. I'm a bit of an automotive heretic - I'm mostly into 80s Dodge turbo cars, although anything automotive interests me. We have an acreage south east of Edmonton. I moved here about 3 years ago from Ottawa.

Hi Everybody,

I'm lucky enough to have gotten away from "work" for a few minutes so I thought I would post some pics of a few of the projects that we are working on in the shop....

.....

...

We have been very busy with readying three different cars for the upcoming show season...

Febuary 23rd the International World Of Wheels rolls thru our town.

The push is on to finish two projects for that show.

A 72 Buick Stage One Buick and a very real (and pretty rare) '70 Hemi-Cuda.

I can't divulge too much info on either car as the customers/owners would prefer to "Make A Grand Entrance" when all is done.

And I respect their descisions as well as look forward to the accolades they will receive when they show their respective vehicles....

That said, I can show a few (not to revealing) pics and give a brief discription.

First the 70 hemi-cuda......

This is a real numbers matching car that will be restored to 100% as the day it rolled of the factory floor... (well maybe mopar wouldn't have gone to such a detail on paint/fit etc. But....

as stated earlier I can't say much about either car but I can say that if you watch the big auction houses down in the states,
You know what kind of dollar$ those crazy mopar fans are paying for top cars.

This will be one such car - to the extent that no individual part will show a production date later than the cars original assembly date....

That is to say that if the car was assembled in (for instance) feb 1970, then the starter or the wiper motor should have been built and/or dated -prior to the "feb 1970" assembly/build date of the finished car.... nuff said??

here's a few pics from oct when we were doing the underside/floor.
The customer originally wanted us to wet sand and polish the underside!.

While not impossible, it is very time consuming and requires that the underside/floor
be absolutely perfect to start with.

This is the detail of the underside of the car as we progressed toward that goal....

(and more pics will follow in the next message I post)

......

In November, we were pretty well all done hand sanding and finishing the underside. At this stage, their is close to 300 hours into just the "tweaking" of the floor of this car....

.... Only 300 hours of hand sanding and rubbing and it's almost ready for some color....

Here's some additional pics...

I'll spare all the boring details but once the colour was sprayed, It was on to polishing the underside of the car.

Very time consuming...,

And lots more hours have passed since the last pics were taken..

These pics show some dust both on the car and particles in the air as well as a little "flash back" from the camera (please forgive)....

But,
The underside is looking very nice in "Plum Crazy".....

Early December pics......

In early December we started the initial assembly of the car.

As stated earlier,

It's extremely important that all the factory dated parts are marked as being built before the car was assemblied in 1970.

We don't want an August 1970 starter on an April Built car....

First week of december and we start with a list of things to do and a lot of boxes of parts.....

It is extremely important that at no time, we touch the paint with a finger, a part or a shirt tail.

Touching a hand polished paint job with a finger leaves hair line scratches, not to mention what rough handling of parts/brackets will do. There will inevetably be some areas that will need to be polished again but our job is "not to cause us more work"...

Some pics of the "gentle" assembly.....
(and stay tuned, more pics will follow very shortly in the next message :) )...

This 70 Hemi-cuda just happens to be a real 70 Hemi-cuda.

This is not an 'assemblied from stray parts' or "fake" hemi cuda..

(and there are many, many more "fake" hemi-cudas out there than there were actual original cudas built :wtf: ).

And being a real car it just feels good to say...

"Yeah, It's Got A Hemi In It" (I love those commercials..)

here's some pics....

...Here are some pics of the 'cuda from about mid December 06....

Assembly is progressing, and Research is a major part of this project (given the cars history and origonality)

(notice that the outer body is not painted yet. That will come soon)
(also please forgive the imperfections in the pictures caused by airborn dust particles/flash/camera reflection etc.).

As mentioned earlier,

There are several cars being finished for the Feb show circuit and as such we are pushing hard on both projects to meet the feb finish date.

Working thru Christmas, we where able to bring both projects a little further along....

This is not without our fair share of twists and turns though...

We still have not received the (used/replacement) drivers side door that was shipped from the states Late in November.

Apparantly it's at least been located by the shipper???

They found our door in .....

....Los Angeles???

Hey Wrong Country you Ding Dongs  and about 2500 miles in the opposite direction of our little hick town.

The Door was shipped November 28th and we fully expected it by the 10th of December.

And As of yet, The Door is still an "Unknown Quantity".

It's a used door supposedly correct for this car. And As Such, It may need a lot of work to bring it up to the level that the rest of the car is at.

But on the 28th of December, the shipper at least found the door...

So the best we can hope is that the shipping will be totally free (oh yeah, that'll happen) and it will be here in less than two weeks. ....

Below are the most recent pics from about December 26th ....

(...and it's vagely starting to look like a car....)

As Mentioned Earlier,

We are working on several other projects for the 2007 show circuit..

Here a few pics of progress of a 72 Stage 1 Buick GS...

It was a very poor hulk of rust to begin with, but it is coming along in a similiar fasion to the Hemi cuda..

This is what I started with back in March 06...

The last few pics are what it looked like on the 28th (dec) when we were playing "musical cars" ((moving cars around in the shop))...

pics of the buick...

(we are also working on a 67 Camaro that is supposed to be a "poster" car for the 2007 SEMA show in Las Vegas, Maybe I'll post a couple of pics of it at a later date if anyones interested.. It was very badly damaged and even rustier than this Buick...))

see you Later,

moe
