Mohawk Lift Placement Help

I just purchased a nice used Mohawk System 1, the bay it will go into is approximately 14.5' X 24'. The Mohawk website manual doesn't specifically give recommendations on how close to the garage door I should place the lift. I have read on other manufacturers sites 13 feet is sufficient. My shop is 14.5 feet to the ceiling and my garage door has a high ceiling kit so the doors when open are very close to the ceiling. Can someone give me some recommendations on this? I'd like to maintain as much room in the front of the lift as I can obviously. The longest vehicle on the lift will be my Suburban which as I recall is about 18 feet long. I really appreciate your help!

well if your subanan is 18 feet long then your lift would have to be at least nine feet from the door, or maybe nine feet from the other wall. You couls put it half way and be done with it or add you work bench to one end and then place it half way with what left over. anyway you look at it you are going need twenty feet of open area

Mine sits at a slight angle with the closest part of the right post base at 15' from the door. I have had an older suburban and a 1 ton Dodge 3500 crew cab dually PU on it with plenty of room to have the door closed with them on the lift. The 3/8" SS lines are at 12' & I have never had any issues with a vehicle hitting them so plenty of room there. I have a 12x12 overhead door with no opener so I tend to just open it far enough to clear the vehicle by a couple feet rather than all the way & can leave it open with regular cars. Sounds like with your space I would place them in 13-14' from the door to the center of the posts, 10' in front of the posts is plenty as most vehicles are heavier in the front due to engine weight so they won't sit exactly centered on the posts to achieve proper balance.
