Friday afternoon I degreased and etched my 500sq ft concrete garage floor. Saturday afternoon I applied the first coast of Rustoleum Professional epoxy. No problems at all. Sunday afternoon the 1st coat is dry, but there was a small amount of water on the floor, on top of the epoxy.

I dried off of floor and went ahead and applied the second coat. Monday I woke up to find a small amount of water again on top of the second coat.

Here in NE Ohio, the temperature was between 60-75 degrees Friday through Monday, but the ground is still somewhat cold.

Is this something I need to be worried about? I conducted the moisture test and I found nothing. During the installation I had the garage door open. My guess is that it's condensation from the warm air.

I have had it happen to me a few times. As long as it was dry before coating application it might not be a problem. I cleaned mine with alcohol each time.

Keep and eye on it, and good luck.

Water on the surface indicates that the temperature of the concrete slab dropped to a level that allowed the moisture in the air to condense on to the slab. That temperature will vary according to the amount of humidity in the air. Don't worry about it.

Walked on the floor yesterday. Everything seems ok. Second coat looks great. Now I need to put down a clear coat. Here's a few photos of the installation.

For those who are planning to install an epoxy floor keep this in mind. Before you install your epoxy floor finish over a concrete subfloor, a moisture test is always recommended. Excess moisture rising to the surface of concrete will destabilize your epoxy floor and can buckle it, or lift it right off the concrete. Excess alkalinity will eat epoxy coating, causing it to bubble and split.
