Okay, i probably should do a search on here cause im sure im not the only one this has happened to. BUT sometimes it just makes me feel better to bang on keys :)

Long story short version. New concrete, no sealer, a rubber pad and vinyl click floor on top of that. Been down about three years. Got sick and got to wondering so pulled up some floor. MOLD everywhere, 1300 sq ft

I removed floor and pad, cleaned mold and killed, now giving floor time to air out. The mold stained the floor in spots and i dont know if using a stain and acrylic sealer will cover the stains so thinking about epoxy paint.

Before i go any farther are there any recommendations. Ive been trying to do my homework and have watched several you tube vids. This is living quarters floor, i live alone and no pets so light traffic

I think you should first find out why there is mold. Probably from moisture so there is no sense doing anything else until you find out where the moisture is coming from and solve that problem. Stain and sealer on top of the moisture is not going to be any good.

The moister is coming up from bottom of slab, the flooring trapped the moisture and caused mold. My garage is same slab with no flooring and i noticed under my rubber mats (to wipe shows off) in garage mold would grow if i didnt move them around and allow concrete to breath.

I think if i seal my slab it will stop the moister evaporation up thru the concrete and no air can get to trapped moister causing the mold

BUT im no expert

No vapor barrier, i even ask them about that and they told me the sand would take care of the moister. Thats my bad for not going with my gut feeling

First, use moisture test kits (we carry if needed) to test the level of moisture emission. If it’s high then you should install a moisture barrier Epoxy which is a special, and more expensive, Epoxy than regular Epoxy. The alternate is to install just a penetrating densifier sealer like Ghostshield which breathes.

My entire house is on a slab on grade. There was no moisture barrier when it was built 40 years ago. We have replaced the wall to wall carpet several times and there is no sign of moisture. Same with my detached garage. Always dry.
You need to examine the drainage around your house and see what is going on.
Just my opinion.

While i am in a low area before the slab was poured i had dirt work done and is raised aprox three feet about ground lever. My land makes a drop off to back of house.

I have no water standing outside the house when it rains and my gutter drains are extended five to ten feet away from house and going down hill

But i agree there must be a water source. During the summer everything is dry and the ground actually cracks because so much clay.

Preacher you said its mostly clay. I don't know about where you live in OK but it has rained a record high amount since late spring and I had a small mold issue that I dealt with. Clay will hold water pretty good.
