I am trying to clean the black mold / mildew spots off the seats on my boat so I can store it for the winter. I have tired a host of cleaners and the seats are really clean, except the small black spots of mildew. What do you guys use?

Years ago an upholstery show told my about their "secret" product. Spray 9 mixed 50-50 with water.

I have been researching the use of bleach on mold. While it may clean and it may brighten fabric, it is not the best product to eliminate mold. For casual use, the vinegar should do the job.

Try Mr Clean magic erasers, they are a sponge that has cleaning stuff in them, you just use them with water. Work very good on upholstery.

When you do get them clean, be sure to have adequate ventilation during storage, or it will come back.

The seats are vinyl. I have tried the magic erasers, no luck. I will look at some of the cleaners you all mentioned. Thanks.

I cleaned the daughter's convertible seats that had some mold on them with plain white vinegar.

I'll second the white vinegar, it work great and is pretty safe for materials. It took me 6 hours but I completely cleaned the inside of a buddy's f150 while he was in afcrackistan because his 3rd brake light was leaking. It smelled like a salad for a couple days but I was very impressed with how well it worked.

The one thing I've found that works very well is " 30 seconds outdoor cleaner"
This stuff really works good. Try it in a area that you won't see, just in case it discolors the fabric, like with anything.

Leave it on for about a minute, wipe it off. No Scrubbing! I mean no scrubbing.

Another thing I've used in the past that most people would not think of, your basic WD-40. It works good on lots of stuff I want to get clean.

Good Luck!
