Mold on dirt around house

My new house has a 5 foot space between the east side of the house and a brick wall. With the house next door also blocking the sun this area is almost always in the shade with only a short time in the sun when as it passes overhead.

The yard is bare Arizona dirt right now.

It now has a lot of green on it which I am guessing is mold. Can I just spray this down with a bleach solution?

in the next couple weeks the whole yard is going to be covered with 2-3 inches of gravel (that's what we do in Arizona)

Any long term solutions? I don't want this creeping on to the side of house.

YES !

I have some serious moss problems on some bare dirt. I have to use about a 4:1 ratio of bleach to kill it. Kills the weeds too !

The area has gotten pretty small after 2 or 3 years.

It might be moss, but it more seems like surface discolored on the earth that's what makes me think it mold.
