Looking for help with this molder planer. M & M W7. Trying to help my aunt clear out deceased uncles tools. Can’t seem to find a value on it. It seems to work alright. Ran some wood through. Made it smooth. What should be my asking price on this? Thanks.

What knives are in it, just flat?

How many Molding knives (each set should cut a different Molding shape)?

It's old, but could be good. Needs a belt guard though

Yeah it just has flat knives in it. Just two of them. Belt guard can be installed by the next owner.

WTF??? I have a Williams & Hussey that's identical. Who's ripping off who?
Needs to have power feed - it's an option mine has. Pushing the wood by hand is hard to maintain an even finish.
Great for making tall baseboard-get the right knives made and mill the profile on the top-the rest of the board can be as wide as you like.
Mine's a bit over 30 years old, bought it new, and it still works like new. Small machine, but very high quality.
As I recall, it cost $700 including the mobile stand with infeed and outfeed rollers, but minus the motor since I already had a suitable one.
Yours doesn't have the power feed, so it might be hard to sell.

M&M was the first name it was marketed under. Later W&H used their own name. I had a very early model many years ago, marked M&M, Keene, N.H., but no Williams & Hussey. I used it as a dedicated thickness planer and it worked great. Good thickness planers are not cheap. If I were going to sell it I'd point out that it works great as a thickness planer, but can also be used for moulding with the proper knives. Also, a lot depends on where you are located... or rather if any woodworkers are located near you. I wouldn't sell it cheap. Look at "Williams & Hussey" on ebay. Complete machines are selling for over $1,450, down to $450, depending on condition and options. There are a ton of moudling blades on ebay for these machines. Somebody wants that baby!

Ditto about how clean it looks. THere is a little bit of rust on the columns, but that could be knocked off with some 0000 steel wool. What motor is on it now? And it comes with a stand--that's a plus.

W T F indeed. It says right there on the plate "Manufactured by Williams & Hussey" :lol_hitti

OK, so I didn't read the fine print. but there are THREE companies named!
Here's mine, (Ours, I should say, SWMBO and me) bought new mid 80's notice, only one company.

I have more questions than answers.
Hopefully the OP will see this and let us know how the thread from 2018 helped him to price and sell. Of course if it's still for sale from 2018 maybe he has reevaluate his method.

Of course nobody reads the threads before answering. Carry on.

I'm new to this site. Currently looking at buying an old M & M moulder planer. It needs some TLC and i need to find parts, the only problem is i think its the 6" W6 model. Any idea where to get instructions or parts? Thx

Thank you for your reply. Well I'm looking at buying one and the guy says it works but only has a flat blade. So i would be looking at other blades and other parts as he said he hasn't had time to restore it. Do you know if i could get an automatic feed for it

An automatic feeder would probably have to be jury rigged for it, although W&M's do have automatic feeders. I owned an M&M years ago. It's a lot different than the W&M. I wish I still had it.

You would be better served finding a W&H. They are still producing them so parts availability is there, as well as powered feed conversion options.

Here are the photos, I'm not sure if this helps any. The price is $100. I had a machine similar to this in school. I remember it was a beast for such a tiny thing.

Looks exactly like the one I had. I loved mine. If you are not going to get it, please PM me with the seller's info.

I had a feeling you might reply like this (all good). It's up here in Canada though but i'll let you know though. I heard without an automatic feed table that it tends to get stuck producing a wavy finish?

Yeah, without an automatic feed you're screwed. You might as well pass on this one. What town is it in? :)

Ok, full disclosure: I used mine for many years and never had any wavy finishes. Your results may vary.
