So i am a bit ocd on some things and like to just know my attic temp on command :lol_hitti:shocking: . Good for monitoring attic thermostat/fan operation.

I was thinking of running a probe along thermostat housing and mounting a the display right by thermostat.

Anyone have any coments on such setup? there is a bunch of cheap thermostat kits on ebay but i dont know how well they will work

That's a cool idea. I have thought about running an automated garage vent fan along a similar idea. My garage is pretty well insulated, but during weather swings, the weather outdoors can actually be prefferable to the weather inside. I would love to have an automated system to take advantage of this situation. Both in winter and summer months (Texas)

Buy one of those indoor/outdoor thermometer setups that has a battery-powered wireless temperature transmitter that is supposed to be mounted outside. Mount the sensor in the attic instead. Done. You might want to use lithium cell batteries in it because they will last longer.

I use a wireless thermometer to monitor the discharge air temperature of my wood burning furnace. I put the sending unit in the duct under a floor register. When I notice that the discharge air temperature is down to 100 or so, I know it is time to toss in some wood.

I use one in my well house in the winter. Lets me know ir the heater is working. Needs batteries once a year. No more frozen pipes, I hope!

That's exactly what I did in my detached garage. Garage temp and attic temp in one display.

I recently installed a wireless thermometer to monitor my shop temperature, so I know if I need to fire up the stove. It is very convenient, and also lets me know how many layers I need to wear.

I also have a wireless thermometer to monitor the outside temperature.

Comparing the two lets me know if I should partially open the garage doors or not.

I have not felt the need to monitor my attic temperature, but maybe I will do that later.
