So, makita made the 6339 14.4v MXT series drill and they also made an 8434 14.4 v MXT series hammer drill that was only sold in Europe. My 6339 striped it’s high gear. Ereplacement parts wants 60 bucks for a replacement transmission, so I picked up an 18v 8444 MXT hammer drill on EBay for 30 bucks. From my research, the 8444 uses the same transmission as the 8434 and the 8434 uses the same armature as the 6339. So I figure I can make a 6339 into a 8434 by removing the original transmission and replacing it with the transmission from the 8444...
