18" opening? The jaw is practically falling out, and that's a liberal measurement of 7" when the tape clearly shows it to be about 6-1/2"...

Bet it's closer to 200 lbs than 300...

At 1K $$ I think he's dreaming unless he finds someone that believes his BS...

Yes, it's a big 'un.

No, I wouldn't pay $1000

Maybe, he knows just enough to be dangerous. While the seller has cranked it open 18", that's not how it should be used. With the slide that far out of the body, there's no support and that's how vises get broken.

Kid of looks like there is some text on the side of the dynamic jaw but it's too blurry in the picture to see.

I have to agree, it's not a 7" jaw... It's like 6-1/2 to 6-3/4.... I would guess around 150 lbs too.

It looks in good shape, but yeah that price is way too high, you can find better for less.

I think it might be a prentiss and if its not a prentiss then I would bet its a massey one way to tell is if it has molded in jaw inserts every massey I've seen has molded in jaw inserts and I believe massey bought prentiss vise co old molds when prentiss switched from molded in jaw inserts.

Yeah it kind of has mixed features between a Parker and a Prentiss...

The shaping of the foot mounts looks a lot like early Parker. The front handle kind of looks like the early Trojan and others that didn't have the Parker Collar. But at the same time it looks like a Prentiss...

If you could get the info / logo from the side of the Dynamic Jaw that he didn't photograph well, that would probably help a lot.

Its just amazing what people think vises are worth around here. Me i would expect to get about a dollar per pound for one in decent shape but people want more like 3-4 dollars per pound. It also doesn't help that it's not really an old industrial area. It sounds like people around Chicago and areas like that have better luck

All thou the static jaw design makes most think Parker, I have notices a fair number of makers used the step style. I'm far from an expert, but I do not think it is a Parker. As stated earlier, no front collar. Also I do not know of Parker not marking their vises.

Parker did make some vises without putting their name on them. However those had non-removable jaw inserts, and the reinforcing bosses deleted... Which this has both those features. So I think we can rule out Parker...

It has to be early 1900's or possibly late 1800's just from the style.

Not sure that's true about the style Jason, I'm pretty sure the fixed base was made through WWII, probably later. (Assuming that's the styling you are talking about)

If it were a wing nut swivel (wing nut being on the bottom under the workbench/mounting surface I'd agree.
