Monte: if I had my choice to buy a new German tool or one made in USA I might opt to grab one from Germany, but it seems like you like our made in USA tools. my favorites are tools that left the factories before WWII, but 1950's and 1960's are ok too cause they still have some of the LOOK.

speaking of all the tools you've gathered and are picking up do you have any more cool projects to show pics of? your skills are amazing so even something you think is simple would be helpful to some that are learning.

cheers!!

I do have a lot of german made tools but i thought it would be nice to have a collection of american made tools to work on american cars. I thought it makes sense :) Really old tools are difficult to find and they often look crude (imho - at least the ones from here). I think in the started to look better in the 60´s and 70´s. I´ll try to post some pics of NOS vintage german tools i have. I do have an older NOS pair of dykes from Proto when they belonged to Ingersoll Rand. My father also owns a couple of older Craftsman screwholding drivers. But nothing pre WWII.
I´ll post some more project pics soon :)

I have to buy new because there is not really something old made in USA available over here..... I did found a Snap-On screwdriver at the flea market a couple of years ago though and a pair of Proto (Ingersoll Rand era) dykes which i found at a surplus store. So next to Bondhus (which sometimes can be found in stores selling german "Felo" brand tools) there is only Leatherman, Gerber and Snap-On if you want to buy american tools (Do kitchen tools count? :) (Kitchen Aid)). (Online more is available of course)
I´ll add some more car show + El Camino pics soon !
I also wish you and everybody a healthy and happy new year !!!

Monte,

I'm stationed in Bavaria, are you anywhere close? I like to find a local flea market or swap meet to go to. Or if you need any help with the Monte. I tried sending a PM but was told your inbox was full.

Oh and I brought this with me.

Got me this tape, but it won´t do the necessary radii to cover the black parts which shouldn´t become silver...

So they´re all black for now until i find a different tape:

Monte: tire looks great even if tape didn't work as well as planned. interesting that the rubber mat is absorbent and hope it does the job.

just curious do you get much snow in your part of the world during winters?

keep up the great work!!

Thanks ! Currently here in the north it´s just raining, it was snowing yesterday but the snow melted almost immediately. The temperatures are about 2 - 8 degrees celsius right now. Back in the days you could build snowmen and igloos. 2 years ago it was snowing a bit more but the real winters are gone... In some parts of Europe it´s not always possible to go skiing anymore...
In the Seattle area it might be still different though ?
Thanks !

Hi Monte

I saw you bought screwdrivers, sockets, pliers and toolcabinets from Snap-on and was wondering where you did buy your Snap-on tools from?

Would also appreciate if you could let me know (if you know any) a couple of EU webshops there sell Snap-on tools.

I could understand that you live in the northern part of Germany.
I live in Copenhagen, Denmark now but originally from Sønderborg (nähe Flensburg)

Hi,
here is the contact email: maybe they can direct you to a danish dealer:
https://www.snapon.com/international/europe.asp
i also found this:
https://jenslinde.dk/leverandorer/snap-on/
my danish is not that good but i guess they sell Snap-On ? :)
The german dealer search don´t show any dealers for Flensburg or surrounding ZIP code areas ...

Had to do some rewiring for the TUV inspection. The back up light are now the (yellow) flashers. The brake lights are now in the former flasher housing:

The cheapo bulbs needed a bigger glob of metal to make contact with the socket:

@drives: Thank you very much ! :)
I used a paint roller to cover the bed. It was fairly easy. You only have to exchange the roller every now and then because it will break down after a while since they´re not solvent resistant.
