I am looking at a new chest/roller combo and am trying to decide between the 56" Montezuma or the "Mechanic's Edge" at my local Peavey Mart. There is no question on the Montezuma, great box but having it shipped into Canada puts its price with shipping, taxes, brokerage, etc. closer to $2000. I can get a "Mechanic's Edge", nearly identical for $1400. I've been emailing Vince (Montezuma) who also happens to be the GM for QualityCraft, who builds the Mechanic's Edge model. Apparently this box has the exact specs as the Montezuma but differs in the casters and the slides. Visually the Montezuma has nicer casters but can the slides be that much better to justify the cost of bringing in the Montezuma? The Montezuma gets the aluminum corner trim and slightly different handle. Here are the specs on the Mechanic's Edge: http://www.qci.net/pdfs/super_heavyduty_pro.pdf
Can someone with the Montezuma box check to see if they have a part# for the slides for comparison? I am waiting for an email from Vince to provide more details of the differences. I hope to make a decision this weekend if possible.
Here is a picture of the box and the stamping on the slides (300045 - I, HCS-1001):
