Montezuma or Masterforce

I've been looking for a new tool box and decided I want a box with a grip latch rather than a detent. Pretty sure I have narrowed it down to a Montezuma 41" or Masterforce 41". My question is, is the Montezuma worth $400 more than the Masterforce? Metal thickness is the same, layout is almost the same and they are both made in the same plant. I also have considered the 56" Masterforce but not sure if I like the drawer layout.

Have a Masterforce 46 and 26 here to make the poor mans 72. Needed narrower depth to fit in 24 inch pallet racking. Zero complaints, glad some of the drawers are double slide, got a lot crammed in there. And like the griplatch alot.

And I believe Menards has the 11% rebate right now.

On some of the bigger Montezuma boxes the depth of drawers are deeper. If you go with the 56" Masterforce you'll have 24" drawers. The 41" has only 18" deep, I think.

I have a John Deere 56" box that's I'm pleased with. All 3 are manufactured by the same company. So besides a few things they're usually all the same box.

I'd go with a bigger size box myself. I guess it's sort of a toss up on the brand. I'd probably go with the cheaper option myself.

I like the thought of a 56" but the Masterforce splits the drawers in the middle so you have two banks of 24" drawers. I think it would be. After if it was offset another 10" one way. With it split in the middle it makes it about the same as the 2 craftsman 26" boxes we have side by side already.

Masterforce boxes are very good, I can't imagine the Montezuma is any better if they are both the same depth.

The Masterforce 56" drawers measure 17" deep while the box is 20" deep. The 41" Masterforce measures 16" deep while the box measures 18".

I believe Montezuma makes the Masterforce boxes. So get the Masterforce if it's cheaper. I'm almost 100% positive the Menard's box is made by Montezuma. Looks like you already know that. 11% rebate plus $400 cheaper. No brainer in my opinion.

Drawer layout is big important factor as no point buying a box that don't work for you but price saving on masterforce especially if rebate available so can't be overlooked if suitable .

The 72" Masterforce box goes on sale for $999 usually twice a year. If I recall correctly, it should go on sale February.

^ is nice box at 999 . 24" deep, proper latching drawers and good color options on their boxes.
1 extra drawer on 72" making left bank shallow to match centre shallows would make it a buyer for me at 999 .

Looks like the 72" Masterforce went $1199 today. I'm guessing the days of $999 sale pricing are over unfortunately.

Just posting in case it helps someone. I was eyeing this until I got the 60" Milwaukee for $349.

Can believe you haven't been flooded with a bunch of replies about boxes you aren't asking about yet.
