Montezuma tool cart at Menards

I saw this at Menards today for 299.00 plus 11% rebate. Is it a decent cart for a diy home auto repair? It seemed like a comparable box to the HF 44 tool box. The drawers were better than any box store tool box.

Thanks for the help. I'm in Kalamazoo, so there's plenty of these at Menards until I make up my mind.

Personally I've looked at them and didn't like the drawer layout. There are too many that are deeper than necessary and would result in wasted space or overloaded drawers the way things generally work out for me. If you like the layout these seem like a nice consumer grade box. The price seems fair now, before I thought it high. If you wanted to lose the casters and use them as general garage storage under a workbench they would be fabulous and look nice and new. Just be careful about overloading, it's easy to do with tools and cheaper boxes seem to be very firm with the weight limit.

It's a great box......just go get it.

Not as heavy duty as my MasterForce boxes...but this one will be mobile set up with my most used hand tools.

To me, drawer depth (top to bottom) is a key factor for choosing a box. I'm a fan of many shallow drawers where I can layout the tools to be readily visible when I pull open the drawer rather than having to paw through a jumble of stuff to find what I want. Deep drawers seem (IMHO) to waste way too much space unless you have a lot of "boxed" tools.

And, as B_Bimmer already mentioned, deep drawers get overloaded and hard to open/close.

If someone got buyers remorse with a Montezuma box, it would be called "Montezuma's Revenge"

I just bought one. For me it's perfect. I do bodywork for a living. I'm taller, so the height is great. All my common tools are bigger (da's, stud gun, grinder,etc.). So the drawer layout is awesome for me I'm getting rid of my bigger Cornwell cart. It's a bit flimsy, but overall for the $$ I'm happy. It's tough for me to find a cart that works in my line of work
