Well this is a super old thread but figured I'd update I've had my extreme tool test now for over a decade still holding strong.

One thing I sort of noticing was certain drawers that either had more use of opening and closing throughout the years or just more weight was that they no longer really clicked when you shut them.

When I contacted extreme to see if they sold detents the nice gentleman customer service said the majority of his customers will remove the detent and then flip them 180°.

I guess apparently the rubber gets a little indentation and it stops really holding the drawer in place.

He said I'd have to call to see if they even still kept them in stock but wasn't able to give me any part number or anything like that via email.

I happen to stumble upon something trying to search for these and found a site did cells replacement detents that look pretty much identical to what's in the extreme toolbox that I have.

By manufacturer called viper.

I took a couple pictures here but kind of pricey at $5 for four of them I end up needing about 11 sets I feel like this should be something where you should be able to get a bundle pack of like 20 for 10 bucks or so but it is what it is... I figure for 50 bucks I'll be able to replace all the detents for brand new rubber ones.

First picture is of the stock extreme detents.

This picture is then flipped around to where you can see the indentation.

And lastly is the picture of the new detents along with the old. Top is the extreme the bottom ones are the viper. Viper have a little nub things on the sides but it doesn't seem to affect anything at all I might even argue it actually holds the drawer slightly tighter?20260818_230021.jpg

Hopefully this helps anyone that has an extreme toolbox. I would imagine it would probably work for the Montezuma ones as well.

I think I've actually been living with this for several years not knowing that you could even remove these or what was holding on to the drawer when you closed it, I just kind of accepted that I had to gingerly close the drawer and hope it wouldn't reopen with a bump. So more than likely you'll be able to flip yours over and get some more life out of them If the rubber seems like it's starting to get harder I would just replace them. I think I've had my tool chest now for at least 12 years. Still very very happy and made to purchase I do wish it was bigger but limited garage space unfortunately lol
