Hello,

I will probably create a garage creation thread under the garage gallery once I have the permit in hand but figured I would reach out to some locals first. I am planning on having a 24x30 pole barn/garage built. I am just starting the whole zoning and permits process in Montgomery County Maryland. I stopped by the office earlier this week to have them do an initial review of my site plan and verify what I can build. I had an initial discussion with permitting to verify what they need for the construction drawings building specific (not pad yet). So I have a couple of questions for people here in the county that have possibly gone through this process recently. Feel free to PM me, or respond in this thread, and I would love to pick your brain, discuss etc...

Cement specific questions:
I need to stop by permitting to verify what is acceptable with the cement pad. Since the pole barn won't be installed on the pad I am hoping that it won't be as difficult of a process. My biggest concerns are about what they are going to make me do for drainage (if they will go overboard or let me just put that bad in on the 4" base of stone). I am pretty sure I am at the 6" over 10' grade but not sure if I will need more.

1)Did Mont co make you do drainage around your garage/accessory building?

2)Did you just have to do the 4" base and 3.5" min concrete thickness, vapor barrier and reinforcement, or was it more involved (footings, etc..)?

3)Did you have to include a PVC pipe for radon? I am not sure if that code is just applicable to a house or also an accessory structure.

4)Did you work with a good cement contractor in the area you would recommend that would level the site and do the pour after? I am not sure if I want to get my dad to help me with this or try to just hire it out. I have had a quote of 4K and 8K so far but would like to get some more.

5)Anyone have any example slab construction drawings? I am guessing I will have to submit these with the permit - I am new to this whole process so I am not sure...
