Speedmaster may well have continued after powermaster. It's possible, even likely, that when wright started making powermaster, the speedmaster moniker was passed to pennens for a couple years before being dropped.

From what I can tell, the standard configuration of the speedmaster 1/4" set was the tbar, ratchet and long extension.20210309_213459_copy_1008x756.jpg

Oh yeah, look at that... I think its kinda weird they offered the T bar but no hinge handle or spinner? I think most folks would rather have either of those over a T bar...I know I would.

Also- is this just a screen shot of the sets MW sold or are the items pictured most of their tool offerings ? In other words, where they on par with the Juggernaut Sears or were they always trying to play catch up ? I dont recall their tool departments from when I was younger...my Dad always bought Craftsman

That was the only hand tools in that catalog. I suspect some wardmaster and other tools were available.

I just scored something off ebay that should wipe out a bit of this list! I am super excited...I will share more once i get it... It wasnt listed long before I sent the seller an offer :beer: This hunt has been about 3 years in the making for me....

I looked through my box of valuable Wards collectible extras and found this 3/8” drive 5/8” socket, slightly autographed by the previous owner. You are certainly welcome to it. I also have quite a few of the unmarked 1/4” drive sockets that Indestro made for Wards if anyone is putting a set of those together.

Found this unusual (to my greenhorn experience) Wards Master OE Wrench. Absent of any insights at AA, I'm curious an age and maker for this. Came out of a box of very clean random wrenches I brought home recently.

Someone bought it!
That was me :) Guilty as charged. Normally I wouldnt spend that much on a hinge handle but this one isnt common...while it does have a few dings from a hammer or wrench, the head is really tight and detent ball is good as well!

Because Smoke is chomping at the bit...

On the lid, there is the remains of a sales sticker of some sort:

Yes, I was jealously eyeing your nice set you just acquired! Nice grab! I would have been all over it if I found it in the wild!

Fast and loose before I ship the catalogs off to Mark, because this one is in such poor condition it may require disassemby to make scans of the pages. Just opening it up and turning pages left little shards of paper all over my kitchen table. These are low-quality snapshots, but I think some of you will find some of the information in them worth a look.

Awesome. On page 618 of that catalog is the Hinsdale set I picked up not too long ago. Looks like it is more complete than I thought.

Here is a goofy one for everyone. I was picking stuff at Surplus Tools in Denver, and found a bin of 1/4" drive sockets. I was looking for a 3/16" Vlchek, struck out. But I did find this pair of 3/16". In the poor light I though they were the same. The Left hand one looks to start with O or C, and the right is a WARDMASTR (sic). Both appear to be made the same, prior to the grind off of the name. I can see why the Wardmastr was deemed a typo. The Ward says * Made in USA*, all that's left on the other is USA. Have to see if that matches any of my Craftsman sockets

The will be distributed to fill holes in user boxes for now.

Wardmastr is not actually a typo. That is how they spelled it. I posted a picture of this in the torque wrench thread but I guess it could belong here too
