I received a Montgomery Wards catalog in the mail today. I thought they went out vof business 30c years ago!!!

The current “Montgomery Ward” is a new company, that purchased the name and trademarks after the original company went bankrupt around 2001.

I have 2 1967 Wards catalogs on my bookshelf. Bought them because I have 67’ Wards Riverside motorcycle, but they’re really a hoot to flip through. Growing up, it seemed like every kid I knew mother had one of these vibrating belt contraptions in the basement including my mom. I’ve posted quite a few of the tool pages on another thread.

That picture of the belt massager is hilarious; I forgot all about them. When I was a kid, 1970s, one of my friend's mom had one of those in the basement. Needless to say, we all thought it was hilarious and would get on it, turn it on, and laugh our asses off.

Old names never die. They just get purchased and remarketed.

I remember buying quite a bit from Service Merchandise. Their name has been resurrected online too (though only jewelry).

In 1980 I bought a Campbell hausfeld 20 gal compressor ( USA made ) and a cheap set of air tools from monkey wards. Air tools have long been replaced with better but still have the compressor and it still works fine.
