About a year ago, I borrowed a spring compressor from a neighbor for my 1969 mustang the make was moog and it was heavy duty in a blue metal box. It had plates with a huge pressure screw and proto socket. This thing was the best! Alas my neighbor moved to Michigan and took his treasure with him. Anyone know if they are still being sold? If not ( which is probably the case...) Does anyone here have one they want to sell? Or any pics or stock numbers so I can do some comparative shopping.

Sorry this took so long. I found the one we have in school, but there is no model number nor part number on or in it. The metal box simply says MOOG on it. Some of the pieces have casting or mold numbers on them, but even the screw and other machined parts have nothing stamped on them.

I have not been able to get in touch with the full-time day teachers to see if they have any paperwork for it, but I know we have had it for longer than twenty years, so I would not be optimistic about any paperwork.

I am curious because I would like one of my own -- even though I am past the age of doing that kind of work myself. It is the safest tool I have ever seen to R & R front coil springs.

That is not the same as the unit the OP wants. I have used the MOOG unit and can say it is the best coil spring compressor made for older US cars. It has extremely heavy duty parts and is virtually bullet proof. I searched for it on the interwebs and found nothing current for price or availability. If found and in decent shape with all parts it would be a "DO NOT PASS UP!!!"

OTC still makes this type of puller. They aren't cheap. Do an EBay search for, OTC Coil Spring Compressor. I priced one at a parts store and it was about 250$. I know a couple techs that have one I can borrow.
