I just happen to run across your build it turned out awesome. I need to build a compressor room how big did you make yours and does it need ventilation. Thanks Mark
Your garage looks great. I built mine a few years back and it is the same dimensions. I wish I had done what you did with the scissors trusses. I used all attic trusses and have a nice storage room but it would have been nice to have the option of a lift in the future. My ceiling is only 9'. I am more a "collector" than a mechanic so not having a lift isn't really that bad. Still haven't completed the inside but I think that will happen this Summer. Congrats on the great building!
@mark - the room is about 4'x4.5' I ventilated by leaving the door up a bit higher so there is a gap at the bottom that allows air into the closet.
Challenge will be fitting the regulator/filter and the Maxair manifold on the one wall and the run the air lines up into the attic for runs - will image those when I start that project
@Gar64. - thanks - yes the trusses are awaiting time and a few more dollars to fit in a 2 post lift - I can't say I'm a major mechanic but I'm future planning
How are things going with your shop? I was reading over it this morning and saw you were asking about something other than plywood for your bench. I used masonite for the top of my bench as it is pretty tough and cheap so when it gets old and nasty I can pull it off and install another piece quickly. You could also use kitchen countertop or go all out and use a piece of stainless steel, but that'll be quite a bit more money.

Hey JB - I diverted away from the shop to focus on renovating the old garage basement this shop replaced under the house. That represents about 1300sq ft of potential living space for........ A man cave 2 !!!
I'll post some pictures of that as I wasn't thinking beyond the shot on here but see a ton of threads where folks have covered every part of their extended projects as well. Some may find it interesting
Another big change is, I swapped the 2010 Challenger R/T for a 2006 Porsche Cayman S - just was ready for a change
This new shop was built to create a much better space to work on my old and new cars than the original garage/basement which was under the house. That combined space was approx 1300sq ft and was roughed in for a full bath etc when the house was built in 1984.
Once the old garage was emptied out to the new shop I started with replacing the garage doors, which required framing. Not load barring or anything as I was just filling the old garage door openings.
Once this was done and the space weather tight, I set about framing partition walls, no load bearing at all. I decided the space up into a main game room for media, pool table, bar - then a full bath 10x12 - a new office/den with wood stove - large storage space in between and the utilities/stairs all enclosed in the middle. I'm doing a black suspension ceiling having scored a tone of theater black tiles on Craigslist and laminate flooring. I've made it as far as framing done. Need electrical and plumbing before the next section
I've been a big fan of the Cayman since it came out and was on the fence about getting one about the time I picked up my cobra replica. I think the finished basement will become a big benefit for you and you'll enjoy that space. Please do keep us posted on how you get along with it.
