I bought some stuff from this old shop last weekend so I decided to go back by on Saturday morning to see if there was anything left. Ended up with a pretty nice box full of vintage made in usa tools and a cool grinder and stand. Cant remember the make of the grinder but it is really big to be rated at only 1/3 horsepower. The stand is another old truck wheel with a banjo rear end housing for the vertical portion and has great patina on the paint. The tools purchased were a 7 piece craftsman torx, lisle 7 piece external torx both in original packs, 5 1/2" KD deepwell sockets, snap on 1/2" extension, mac drum brake adjuster, herbrand brake spring tool, snap on bleeder wrench, small peterson era vice grips, union tools thread pitch gauge, starret inside calipers, usa made drill bit stand, old "V" 1/2" drive long flex head craftsman ratchet, 1 Stanley & 3 other body hammers with New Britain on the handle, an old radiator hose rack, old weatherhead bake line rack, decimal equivalent chart and 3 old cans. I am thinking most of this is from the 50's-60's with the exception of the torx sockets. Forgot to put the small gulf oil thermometer that was included in the picture. Total damage done for the haul was $190. Its gonna be tough not to go back next weekend look again. The still have a cool shop press and a welding table.

That Craftsman 1/2" flex RHFT would go for stupid amounts of money on eBay. So you know in case you want to recoup a little bit.

The grinder looks like a buffer as the end castings are fairly long and contoured like a beffer. 1/3 hp is still not great for buffing either but the rpm is important as it's the speed at the contact point that you need. Is there a manufacture date on it?

I havent inspected the grinder/buffer close enough yet to know if there was a date on it. Judging by the look of the cord I would guess no newer than the 60's. All I can remember is it was rated at 1/3 hp which is a very conservative rating and it was made by Schauer. I have an old Grinder that I like so I was really just interested in the stand. He has one more stand made the same way with a small drill press on it that would be perfect match and a good place to mount my drill press.
