Picked up a bunch copper tube and fittings at the Home Depot yesterday for a small plumbing job I'm doing. Good FKG grief! It's all China **** and everything is FKG oval! My hours nearly trippled beating on the **** with a plastic hammer just to get the **** to dry fit. They used to carry USA made Nibco. Not the case today. Thank god this is a personal project. Never again!!!

LOL don't know if that is because of COO or some Monkey got to it. between the boat and the store shelves.

I have bunches I bought and none are oval.

I would take copper fittings back and buy elsewhere if out of spec. I gotta believe there is another big box or a hardware store in your area that sells copper fittings.

It is worth the time, and actually, less money too, to go to dedicated plumbing supply shops for ANY plumbing supplies. Same with electrical. Here we have Ferguson and Graybar.

I buy lots of fittings from McMaster Carr and Grainger too for the irrigation work I do. Those are USA last I bought from them a few months ago. To think people are putting in air systems that run 150+ psi with HD fittings is downright frightening.

This is a very real posibility... In the auto parts business, there exist too many individuals who should work in other fields. The sort of people who ask you "disc or drum brakes?" when you order a wheel cylinder. I don't know what's a greater threat to the product - lax specifications / lax quality control / COO / lax front end handling of the product. Many years ago, I worked for a company that manufactured starters and alternators and let's just say in their rush to package orders, the understaffed shipping department used to toss / slam parts that should have been handled / packaged better.

Channellocks work nicely for straightening those fittings. A simple squeeze fixes them right up. With that said, leaving a slight oblong or oval shape will make soldering the joints easier because it will prevent movement. Another trick is to smack the end of the copper tubing on the ground to give a similar shape, again making a tight fit in the fittings and preventing movement.

We as consumers need to try to do a better job standing up to the China ****.I run into this ,and I do like to get quality. You get better odds if IMOO it doesn't have that name involved.Ferguson is a good option,as plumbers can't risk their business on poor performing products.Quality sometimes costs more, and I under stand people have to make decisions,I just step back and think about it,just a bit longer.

I had the same issue a few years back at HD. I returned the items and wrote an email to corporate. Probably did little good, but ....
