Hello again,
Ok, I tried everything advised to me earlier on how to unstick the drill shaft on my old Craftsman drill press. Ever since I tightened the quill to see how it works it won't fully release the drill shaft. Any ideas on how I should get this loosened?
Also I still can't figure out how to get the table and the head to move up and down. Mine seem pretty stuck in place. The table will rotate around but up and down is a no-go. Is there a trick to this that I'm missing?

If the table will not go up and down it is full of rust. Take an orbital hand sander and start sanding. I do it to woodworking machinery all the time. It will not take enough off to hurt anyting. Sand the pole and then take a ruber malled and block of wood and tap equaly around the ring. You can take a small pry bar and put a little and I mean little pressure and open up the gap. It will move sooner or later. I have owned hundries of pieces of used machinery and I have never had one that would not move with a little effort. Then again I don't buy rusty machinery.

As for the quill there might be a pin in the shaft form keeping it form moving. Look for a keeper pin. a 2x4 and 5 pound short handled hammer should break it loose or break it. LOL

It can not be that stuck. If it really is that stuck it must be a rust bucket. If it is rusted sell it as is and move on. I just picked up a floor model 15 inch Jet drill press for $125 and it looks like new.
