More Hollands vise info please?

Hi. Newbie looking for some info on a recently purchased Hollands 44 1/2 machinist vise. Needed a larger vise and ran across this one on Craigslist.
It has been well used and somewhat abused. Appears the previous owners did not understand the lack of a built in anvil on a vise. I have managed to remove the pin with a rolling block tool however the pivoting jaw is not freeing up.
Do not really need the feature at this point as everything else is fully functional. Just can't resist the urge to strip, clean, and lube.
Did a search of the archives and found info on the removal of the swiveling jaw on a Parker. The Hollands does not appear to have a retaining pin that is visible. Before I spend a lot of time tapping all over this Hollands in search of something that might not be there I am hoping for a little guidance.

That Hollands could have 60 years of crud under that jaw. Take the pin out. get yourself a block of wood and mini sledge (24+oz) and hit that jaw alternately from each side. You should eventually start to see it angle. Good luck

Thanks. I am soaking it down with PB Blaster and plan to have at it tomorow. Won't get too carried away though. Nothing worse than breaking something by trying to "fix it".

This is what has worked so far on all my swivel base vises that were originally 'stuck' together. Just be careful not to have it too close to the edge of a bench or similar. Sometimes if it lets go suddenly, it will swivel all the way out of place and potentially fall out/off the vise. Falling + cast iron does not usually end well. No, I've never done that to any of mine, but had at least one close call.

I'm abit late to the party wth respect to your topic, but I have a Holand 44 1/2 that I bought last year for $120. We're you able to gain any more info about your vise ?I've found no 8nfo whatsoever except for your post.

Welcome. I do not personally have much more info. A google search for "Hollands vise history" will return a plethora of info.
I am very happy with mine.
