A couple months ago I picked up an old Wilton from my grandparent's estate, and just this weekend was able to get a few more things out of their basement. All pictures are prior to any cleaning. Just unpacked and took the pictures.

Guys here are gonna go into orbit over that socket set holder.
Nice haul but the price of inherited tools is too high with the passing away of your relatives.

Blackhawk bomb toolboxes are awesome! I don't think I could bring myself to use one, I'd put it up on display. I love that ratchet as well. Any pictures of the outside of the box (any decals or anything)? I've never seen one that clean.

He took excellent care of his tools as well. I've seen many photos of that style Blackhawk toolbox, but none that were this clean and original.

thanks everyone!! :) it's been awesome to get this kind of support, and my mother (these are all from her father who passed in the mid 1990s) takes comfort and smiles knowing her dad had such interesting, nice things.

here's the outside of the Blackhawk tool box:

Great Blackhawk set. That NUGGETS decal is in nice shape, you can tell the tools didn't get tossed around in there. And the ratchet instructions, WOW. Obviously your grandfather took good care of his stuff.

Sorry for your loss, but your family had good taste! If you were to sell (I said IF) at the right time, I'd bet the Nuggets set would bring at least twice the number mentioned above. Most stylish tool set ever made!

Is the Craftsman cabinet in the last pic a power tool stand? That's a nice piece, too-I'd put that to good use.

I never knew about a Blackhawk bomb toolbox before!!! Just another reason why I love this site. I definitely will try to hunt one of those down, although they are probably extremely rare.

One of those Blackhawk ratchets just went for big bucks on eBay.

I doubt you'll sell, however.

Awesome stuff. I've never seen that craftsman box before. Drill press base?

Don't worry, guys! No plans on selling any of it. I'm going to try to get a few more items, but honestly not sure what else they had.

As far as I can tell, the C-man cart is a tool/utility cart. I'm trying to get it cleaned up without damaging the paint, and everything on it needs to be lubed. I'll get more pictures of it and maybe you guys can help me determine its intended purpose.

Sorry for your loss. I've been in your shoes twice in the past few years with both of my grandfather's passings. It's an honor to inherit those tools and I'm sure your Grandpa would be proud to see you taking care of his tools! Enjoyed seeing them, thanks for sharing!

Yes...very nice Blackhawk 7/16 drive set.. One of the nicest I've seen.

It looks like there are some pieces that have been added to the set. If you get a chance, please post up some detailed pics showing all of the pieces laid out.

You'll love that big die grinder. I have a similar one, and mostly use it with an arbor and 3 inch cut off wheels. Looks like grandpa was something of a collector more than a user.

From Alloy Artifacts:

"7/16-Drive Tools and Sockets

Blackhawk's line of 7/16-drive tools was one of their more distinctive products, and no other company is known to have produced tools in this drive size. According to the Blackhawk sales literature, the enabling factor for these tools was the extra strength of the Hexite steel alloy developed by Blackhawk.

By the mid 1930s Blackhawk had developed an alloy steel named "Hexite", and claimed it to be 70% stronger than the typical chromium-vanadium alloys in use. As if to back up their claims, Blackhawk designed a new line of sockets and drive tools with 7/16-drive, and extended the claim that these were as strong as conventional 1/2-drive tools but only slighty larger than the corresponding 3/8-drive tools. With these tools (or so the marketing claim went), the mechanic could dispense with the trouble and expense of maintaining both 3/8- and 1/2-drive sets and go entirely 7/16-drive.

Blackhawk produced a full range of 7/16-drive sockets to go with the drive tools, including shallow, deep, and universal sockets. Since this line of tools was supposed to replace both 3/8- and 1/2-drive, the socket sizes ranged from 5/16 up to 1-1/4, in order to cover the normal size ranges of both the larger and smaller drive sizes. "

No wonder that NOS ratchet went for so much. They must be rare.

But to me, at least, they're just interesting collectibles, since it seems that there are no metric sockets to fit the ratchets and accessories.

Excuse me if I'm drooling. I am so glad that you and your family both appreciated your grandfather's tools. That is a special collection. Would hate for them to have just been tossed in a box, even if that box had happened to end up in my truck.
